As a member of the so called merchant class I take offense to that. We are above board and pay every single tax, customs, NIB, Business License, etc. We work hand in hand with customs to weed out the 'small fry' out there trying to bring things in illegally or with false documentation. The number of commercial fishing vessels that also go over to Florida for 'service', load up their holds with merchandise and bring them back into the Bahamas and clear them through customs as 'ships stores'...then turn around and off load the product and sell it through smaller grocery stores is staggering. There are a few bad apples out there no doubt, but most of your bigger players are doing it right. The last big trouble maker was Robin Hood Enterprises, but their dishonest ways finally caught up with them.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry...stupid is as stupid does...only problem is that the two stupids are playing Russian roulette with our livelihoods.
Barber shop ripple...so...you are under the threshold to where you need to actually register...what is to stop you from adding VAT on anyways, take another 15% from the customer, they don't know that at the end of the day you are not submitting that back to the government...do you really think we will have that good of a checks and balances in place to catch people sucking 15% out of the end user 'illegally'...just a thought. Not that I would suspect ANYONE of every trying to be that deceitful...never....
To add insult to injury...whenever you need to transfer stock from you 'bonded warehouse' to your live inventory, government is wanting to charge you a 'processing fee' for accessing your own merchandise, that you have already paid all applicable fees on already. Bull crap!!
I would LOVE to hear the terms of their existing contract, versus what every other non-unionized employee has to go against in this country...it's not easy, and your non-unionized brothers have it way worse than you do...so get off your high horse and get back to your poofy union contract that you've jammed down your employers throat. Things went REAL quiet when the union terms for KFC became public...and now look at them.
Unless The Tribune got their facts wrong, he was out on bail for an existing charge of rape. I'm sorry to sound disrepectful bahamianbeauty, but I have no sympathy or time for rapists and child abusers...even less time for them then cold hard killers and murderers. They rapists are a totally different type of criminal. Now...he was not convicted of it, so there is obviously that innocent until proven guilty part...whether he did it or not, now we will never know. My only other thoughts on this, after adding your comments into it is this...he's out on bail for rape, he is questioned on other rapes and released, and in your words he is informing police of other crimes he has knowledge on. Sounds like the criminal element was entrenched in his soul. To his defense though, at least he was trying to assist police with information...for that I give him props.
