While AG is at it … and for that matter the Environmentalists … what about all those Cruise Ships that threw Anchor wherever in our Waters for months on end during the Pandemic and destroyed untold numbers of Reefs in the process?!?
Figuring out ways to keep this Country afloat is something “all” Bahamians “should” be supportive of … including the encouragement of foreign investment.
That would appear to be the unfortunate reality, but as we all know on this “little” Rock … time will reveal … problem is the Country suffers in the meantime … fortunately Kovats appears willing to stand his ground … and form what I can see and read … he is on “solid” ground!
This is turning into an embarrassing Comedy … “We don’t even know what this Project looks like …” yet the Article is headed with a Photo of the Project?!?
As for Restrictive Covenants … the Court ruled years ago that there are none applicable to Love Beach, as British Hoffman (who historically owned all of this land) failed to impose properly, hence the multitude of Condominium Developments that have ensued in this area over the years, including the Condominiums in which it would appear certain Owners now complain of a similar development to theirs, which begs the question … why is this Investor not allowed to develop in similar manner?!?
We need to free ourselves of the shackles of bureaucratic red tape that has stifled this Country’s development potential and in the process economically enslaved our people to be beholden to special interest groups with self serving agendas … if an Investor wants to invest in our Country and create employment … let him invest … indeed, a “Welcome and Thank You” might be a nice gesture … it is little wonder with such backward mentality questioning it would seem everything under the Sun that we have been left behind by the rest of the World and our young people have limited employment opportunities today in what should be “the greatest” small Nation in the World.
It would seem Kovats is all about “business”, which “should” be what an Investment Friendly Country dependent upon Foreign Investment is all about also, not entertaining the minority voices of Special Interest Groups that have their own Self Serving Agendas that do not align with those of the Country in terms of economic development and most importantly Job Creation … indeed, it is clear from our current disastrous international financial standing that entertaining such Special Interest Groups over the years has done us no favors and our people have as a result … suffered greatly.
Anyway, as Others are commenting … it is “A New Day” … so let us see, as I reckon a lot of other potential Investors are watching how this plays out … hopefully the Red Carpet for the World to see … and not more Crabs coming out of their Holes to cause mischief at the expense of our Country and in tun, our People.
Treasure Cay was “THE” Resort in the Family Islands in the 1970s and has languished ever since the Hotel closed in the 1980s and never reopened … it’s re-birth will be great for Abaco … and The Bahamas as a whole.
As for the Investor … it is amazing how people complain for 30 to 40 years … and now someone finally steps forward and puts their money where their mouth is … the same people, who presumably had 30 to 40 years to buy themselves, save their “talk was cheap”, now realize “money buy land” … nonetheless immediately resort back to complaining … even before the deal has closed … absolute classic hypocrisy and no wonder this Country is struggling to keep its head above water with such mentality.
There is far too much manipulation of our Courts going on due to unethical practices … and worse in all likelihood the corrupting influence of money passing under the Table to influence Judicial decision making … thankfully newly appointed Justice Klein does not appear to be a part of this outrageous and worsening “Racket” undermining public confidence in our Judicial System at the expense of innocent people who fall victim to such corruption.
Where is the apology from “The Tribune” … and all Others who sought to create mischief by slandering this young “Loyal” Abaconian … and “Patriotic” Bahamian, whose only apparent fault was to enter Politics in an effort to help his fellow Abaconians and the greater Bahamas!?! Yes … this is Black Crab Syndrome in full view for all to see … and why this Country is n the mess it is in, as our people are all too eager to defame and destroy each other, as opposed to working together to build (now save) a Nation.
