Like the vast majority of Bahamians, I am all for the Environment, but we have to be realistic in securing our financial needs to support ourselves, whereas most developed countries have options, we simply don’t, so as much as “Green Energy” sounds good and we are being pushed to adopt, our Climate will corrode the Solar Panels and Wind Turbines … even before the Hurricanes blow them away all together every few years … and what are the same Environmentalists going to say when the Windmills decimate the migratory birds that pass through these Islands along with our beloved Seagulls and White Crown Pigeons … oh, didn’t think about that?!? What about Hydro … now our Fish become victims … again very dear to not just the hearts of Environmentalists. If anything, we need to focus on being realistic and perhaps explaining to the World that although we may suffer more than most from Global Warming, we may well have to continue much as we are … particularly given whatever we do will have little impact on the overall Planet, as hypocritical as this may seem to the Environmentalists … of which I am one at heart … but a “realistic” one.

Sounds like Brave was indeed “brave” … well done and continue to be “brave” in both voice and action as we have a beautiful Country … and need to save it on “all” fronts, not least economically and environmentally, which are unfortunately often at odds with each other requiring “brave” decision making for the health of both our people and the Country we regard as “Home”.

At least Oban was proposing a state of the heart facility on barren land in the middle of no where compared to the 2 current old environmental disastrous facilities … and thousands of high paying technical jobs on what was supposed to be our “industrial” Island due to proximity to the US and relatively uninteresting flat topography making it unattractive for tourism … as has clearly now been proven with the failure of all large hotels.

As debate rages over whether this act of vandalism was justified, it is pretty clear from the more extensive Videos of this event that Michael “The Ark Angel” was most likely either on drugs or suffering from mental instability … and as much as we may wish to debate the ramifications of his actions, we should be careful to attribute “intent” to what he did.

The ultimate irony of this Country … a Statute commissioned by Abolitionist Governor Carmichael … and paid for by Black Slaves … destroyed by a Free Black Man near 200 years later without any clue of History … March on Bahama Land, March on …
