Those currently suffering in the aftermarth from such exemplary work would beg to differ and prefer to be acknowleged via the tendering of Resignations by those Government Officials and Civil Servants responsible for their near loss of life due to such exemplary service to the Citizenry they were elected, appointed and indeed, paid to protect.
Bottom line is Storm was not being properly tracked for whatever reason, hence insufficient Warnings, and those responsible for such failings need to resign, end of story, as if you are not going to take responsibility for putting Lives in jeopardy, then what are you?!? Very sad state of affairs, which stands as yet another example of why this Country is in the mess it is in.
NEMA has become a National disgrace for their inaction before, during and now after the Storm. It is embarrassingly tragic that they do not recognize this themselves in an effort to address. Suffice it to say, if Heads do not roll soon, they will be responsible more than anything else for the downfall of the PLP, who may never recover as putting lives in jeopardy will take "many" generations to forget, if ever!
Sad thing is NEMA is still not acting, so failure to Warn, followed by failure to Respond has got to mean resignations are in order, failing which, firings, even in a most inept Society such ours today.
One can not defend the indefensible, simple as that, Bahamian lives were placed in peril due to "paid" Government personnel that were charged with the responsibility of protecting their own Citizens and failed, end of story, do the honorable thing, resign and return your salaries that you are clearly not deserving of. Imagine that, we might actually be able to move Forward, Upward, Together, but alas I reckon those words were removed from the Bahamian Dictionary long ago, together with responsibility, accountability, integrity and honesty, you see everyone thinks I am speaking another language now, least we forget, March On Bahamaland, March On ...
Not too hasty, this same LBT came on "live" Television and proclaimed that she was aware of DEATHS, but was not willing to reveal the Names pending notification of next of kin! If ever there was a fatal flaw in Leadership, it was this, which supported the unsubstantiated rumors that were flying around our Islands at already most stressful time. How one acts under pressure in the heat of the moment is all important for a Leader and regrettably, she failed in the most horrific way.
If the "deaths" Mrs. B-T claimed to know of, but refused to reveal pending next of kin notification, prove to in fact be false, it will be she that has dug her proverbial grave, not the "supposed and illusive" dead!
Long Island does not even get a mention on the Local TV News in connection with this Hurricane notwithstanding being one of the Islands hardest hit, preference being to cover Others miles away from the true devastation. So much for One Bahamas, they must truly be an "Out" Island vs. "Family"?!?

Very well put, only problem, there appear to be few, if any, "right" thinking Bahamians in Government, irrespective of Party.
