There is more to this than appears. I am quite sure that behind closed doors, the US Embassy told our government that unless they fix crime, they would block US tourists and cruises from coming here.

You can almost hear them thinking, "Let's see how much we can steal this time. 33 million. Nah, that's too high, someone will notice. These Bahamians are suckers, trust me. We can do it. Alright, 33 million it is you crazy SOB."

BahamaPundit says...

Is this a joke? You're going to spend an absurd amount of money to try to fix your incompetence. What world is this? Who could lend someone 33 million for such a crazy plan? It's obvious that money borrowed to fix the problem will itself go missing, be squandered and just plain stollen. Which crony is going to own the shelf company that installs the "new" system that will probably be broken in two years time? These guys are unbelievable. No amount of money can make someone organised; this is a character trait, not a system, and, unfortunately, it is a character trait sorely lacking in most Bahamians. Just like BAMSI. You don't spend millions of dollars to start a farm, you get on your hands and knees and start planting seeds.

I don't want to rain on your comment, but it is exactly your mindset that drives me up the wall. The number of affluent, non criminal background murderers last year can be counted on one hand, compared to the hundreds of drug/criminal background/gang related killers. Bahamians look for any excuse to return to their position of helplessness. We can't identify the murderers, so we can't prevent them from killing, you appear to be saying. It's about the breakdown of the family and deterioration of social values blah, blah, blah. At long last, the FBI is involved. Finally, some sense and intelligence can be inserted into our crime problem. The solution does not lie in Bahamians. Clearly, we have shown that it is beyond our threshold of knowledge and expertise. I am not yet sure whether Nottage sought the assistance of the FBI or whether he was summoned by them, due to the recent tourist rapes, which is more likely. All I do know is that Bahamians have proven that they do not have a snowball in the sun's chance of solving this crime mess without external assistance. We can chose to put our heads in the sand and say it's mental illness, the economy, poor upbringing, discrimination what have you, or we can face up to the situation and admit that we need help and need it fast.

Great set of leaders we have. They have now basically handed the keys of The Bahamas over to a communist, dictatorial regime with a terrible human rights record, censorship of free press etc. And people wonder how blacks sold their own race into slavery? Well, it just happened again. Colonialism 2.0. After the Chinese are finished messing with us, Cuba will look like a liberal democracy in comparison.

BahamaPundit says...

Now this is an excellent response. Thanks.

Can anyone explain to me how filing Chapter 11 in the US could have saved Baha Mar and prevented the 2K layoffs? I just can't see how it would have made an ounce of difference, other than perhaps prejudicing Bahamas based creditors and bringing any corrupt dealings between the Chinese and Bahamas Government to light.

BahamaPundit says...

Take it as you wish my friend. All I'm saying is if we keep voting in these turkeys, we'll keep getting the same negative results.

This simply means that we have obviously gotten the leadership equation wrong for a very long time in this country. The fruits of our decisions is a country sinking in debt and unemployment. Something must change. Race has nothing to do with it, other than informing us that any racial criteria for picking a leader must be done away with completely.
