That's a very good point you have raised. Whatever happened to the 2% and the Bahamas foundation holding the funds? Could Tribune reporters please look into this.
I hope Bahamar gets every document it asks for. This matter stinks of corruption. Further, I hate how it requires US Courts to get the "high and mighty" in line. Without their intervention, this matter would be sweapt under the carpet, because these thug governments and political cronies treat us mere mortals as worthless peasants.
You are right on the money with your analysis. You should represent him. Now that the Press has wind of it, all it should take is a lawyer's demand letter to reach a settlement offer. Clubs like this hate bad press and would rather pay to make you shut up and go away. There seems to be much more to this matter than the public is aware. The Club obviously had no liking for this employee and were looking for any excuse to get rid of him, unless they are completely souless perfectionists, which is unlikely.
This, of course, is outrageous aka nothing new for the PLP. Whether you profit or lose from a deal, the mere fact that you or your family are invested means that you are conflicted. This throws the whole Government charge of winding up the company into disarray, because it is no longer a question of what's best for the Bahamian people but what's best for her two daughters. One must ask which is more likely: that her daughters are big time business tycoons or that they are merely fronting for her private investment.
I'm beginning to think foreign companies will start to pull out of the Bahamas, as not worth the trouble. The PLP has broken just about every rule of diplomacy possible. From the vantage of a casual observer, it is clear the Bahamas has lost its edge as a top tourist destination. This is why foreigners no longer will put up with the "fresh talk" from our politicians. The Bahamas is now known as a crime infested, over priced tourist trap where there's absolutely nothing to do after 8 PM. Want to get your moral authority back Bahamas? Stop crime completely, lower prices radically and give these bored tourists something to do other than build sandcastles.
It appears by not paying "Non Bahamians," they are also not paying spouses of Bahamians who have a Spousal Permit. This is causing harm to Bahamians married to these spouses. Does anyone have any information on this?
Atlantis has 100% occupancy. I just went and there were so many tourists I could hardly move. Only heaven knows why Sarkis didn't hire the architect that designed Atlantis. When you have a winner, why try anything else? The entire down town area should be designed like Marina Village. It's so obvious it hurts. I came from Atlantis and passed Bay Street -- not a single tourist was on the street. I passed Bahamar and it looked like an old piece of Chinese cheese. Wake up folks!!!! You know what tourists want, now replicate it in down town and Cable Beach. Duhhhhhh.
Why are Bahamians so afraid to express themselves? This man is not afraid, let him speak and learn from his example. It seems that Bahamians love to hide behind a little colonial rock and tremble from the big boss. We have to grow out of this fear; it's nothing to be proud of.
