What a lazy way to government FNM!!! Buy buy buy. Just plain lazy. Passing legislation is FREE. Instead of buying things for your cronies to plunder and leave the country broke, pass legislation that allows the private sector to expand and build the economy. Such a no brainer.!
I've said this before: Making recreational cannabis legal in Grand Bahamas, and only Grand Bahama, is a no brainer and would jumpstart the economy overnight without purchasing a 65 million dollar hotel. There should be a special prison for those who steal the people's hard earned money and waste it on wind and water pies.
The only real news is who will be paid the realtor commission and who will be paid the legal fees for the sale of the hotel. You might add who will obtain the renovation contract to the mix. Believe it or not, these crony/nepotistic payouts are all these feeble minded, carpet bagging politicians cared about in the first place. The nationalistic reasons for purchasing the hotel are fake news.
Well folks. Seems like the cat is coming out of the bag. I already predicted what went down at BEC in previous posts. Now just sit back and watch the show.
The shantytown is a red herring. The FNM never intended to close them down. They just wanted to distract the Bahamian people from the selling of BEC and the cruise ship port. Just like the 50% tax of the numbers men was a distraction from the 60% increase of VAT on the Bahamian people. It will never happen, nor was it ever meant to happen!!! This FNM government is using the favorite method of black politicians the world over: distract distract distract and steal steal steal!
90% of corruption in the Bahamas is due to Bahamian intermediaries. This needs to stop. The Government of the Bahamas is owned by the people of the Bahamas, so these middlemen are stealing from us!!! No more Bahamian intermediaries. Let the Bahamian people get value for their dollar!!!
I agree. Especially the dump crack store opposite the new multistory car park at the point and has a faded Chinese medicine sign on it. I believe it once was called Max or something. It's got to go! All East Bay Street needs to be demolished IMO.

Beginning to wonder if the actual cost of the hotel was more like 45 million and 20 million is going to a slush fund.
