Fact remains speed was a factor. Because had she been A. Paying attention to the road, and B. Doing the posted 25mph speed limit there would have been no way for her to have hit the barricade with enough force to move it back several feet- as stated by police.

Furthermore the damage her vehicle sustained and the lack of brake skids in the road also indicate she was speeding and didn't see the barricade with enough time to brake or swerve and thus not have direct head on impact.

She was responsible and I feel no amount of signage or reflectors on the barricade could have prevented this if she was in fact speeding and distracted.

Sad though it may be this family needs to accept the loss, grieve, and move past this.

Stop looking for a come-up and letting the wrong people gas them up on foolishness. Have some respect...

They aren't serious, it is an unfortunate situation that the young lady died but how is that the government's issue.

I agree with banker, Bahamians think the government is responsible for their poor choices. Calling for the resignation of Bannister is ridiculous and far beyond necessary.

If for every accident in the USA someone resigned there would be no public officials.

Fact is this family needs to grieve and move on, stop looking for a comeup and free government assistance on the back of your dead family member.

About damn time... these criminals running, driving, ducking, dodging, and shooting circles around the police.

I have long said there should be a fitness standard to be on active duty in any of our armed forces.

How you expect to apprehend immigrants and criminals and can't even walk a flight of stairs without getting winded. If you are in any active duty status there should be a requirement of fitness to be maintained. Now if you aren't active duty and just sit behind a desk that's different.

We like slackness too much around here, fat sudgy police. Smh

If the government took control of the gaming industry from the start this wouldn't be an issue. The gaming industry should never have been allowed to be privately owned, because all the money would also be private.

And I maintain greed is now the factor, because they see the revenue and want some for themselves. So the only way to now get it, is to overtax the gaming sector. They do all the work and the government gets half the profit.

I'd close down my shops too... taking half my profit and they aren't doing anything. Smh...

All the government is trying to do is get back some of that money that they so foolishly allowed the gaming houses to get.

When people were suggesting a national lottery so that they would have all the profit, the government decided to be lazy and leave the playing of numbers/lottery to private businesses.

Now with the implementation of VAT they are able to see just how lucrative gaming really is. Now they want to find a way to get a piece of the pie for themselves. So they taxing the hell out of them. Now trying to capitalize on the already established gaming system.

Bunches of suckers, I say close all the web shops and fire everyone for the government being so stupid as to not have made those gaming houses come under a government agency.

"Da F*ck" no law saying his parents are responsible. They aren't serious, he is a minor and his parents are responsible for him.

So the victims must claim on their insurance and pay deductibles because he decided to do something illegal. Anywhere else in the world, his parents would have to be responsible for damages.

This country to arsebackwards... gosh we really should be in caves wearing coconut bras and grass skirts. Smh....

Very sad this young lady died, but let's be real- speed was a factor. She hit the barrier head- on with no evidence of having braked. Which means she was distracted and didn't see it. Cause even had she seen it at the last minute she would have swerved or braked. A full mile of straight road and with her headlights she should have seen the barricade before she got to it.

This accident was a result of negligence on both parties. The government for not assuring adequate signage of the road closure, and the young lady who it seems was speeding and unaware the road was blocked.

It's very sad and tragic that this young mother lost her life over something so preventable. I truly hope this is a lesson for other drivers. Speed kills and paying attention to the road is key.

I hate the arse backwardness of this country. Can't we get anything right...

*Sex offenders registry
*Stiffer penalties for hit and runs that result in death
*Death penalty for murderers
*Penalties and incarceration for animal cruelty
*Stricter immigration laws

Just a few of the things that I find The Bahamas needs to deal with.
