"TalRussell" Ronnie Butler was not an elected official who held a public office.
So how do you feel about military funerals? Guess the government shouldn't pay for those either. And bear in mind there are more police officers, prison officers, and defense force officers than MP's or Cabinet Ministers.
What needs to happen is better budgeting so the government can keep up with ALL it's required obligations.
"Well_mudda_take_sic"... go and get correct facts. No funeral costs 200 grand, much less an official funeral. Speak on what you know... here are the facts- the government gives $10,000 towards the funeral expenses, as well as pay for the casket spray, and the printing of official funeral programmes.
So I fail to see how that exceeds 200 grand. Smh
As for "TalRussell", after serving the people of this country in the highest capacity the least we as a country can do is to provide them an honorable funeral. And it doesn't matter what party they are with, if they have served as a cabinet minister they are entitled to an official funeral.
MP's receive a state- recognized funeral and prime ministers and governor generals receive the highest honor of a state funeral- which all expenses are paid.
Maybe that's the issue with this country. Everyone in charge has no experience or training. Maybe UB needs to offer political science as a major, and all aspiring politicians would benefit from one or two political science courses.
I have long said we would be better off if our aspiring politicians actually were trained in politics instead of just deciding to up and run for office cause they want to grandstand or come from a political party.
Gone are the days when you could just come up through the ranks. The world has changed, we need trained government and not the randomly appointed crony.
I see this being like numbers, only a certain few will have the money required to even start up a business.
Between purchasing your own land or leasing Crown land, and then paying for the different licences only the already rich will be able to capitalize on this venture.
Then what happens the rich get richer and the poor spends money to purchase the marijuana from the rich.
Sad but true....
Should it be legalized, I think so. But not if only certain rich people have access to being distributors.
Da fu*k... how many Bahamians die in America, do they expect a call from the president.
How many people die from traffic accidents, do you think the president calls each one.
Get the hell outta here... ya'll really think politicans have time for all this bs. Then when dudes spend all their time "politicking" then when do they have time to run the country.
Or maybe two girls thought to get chummy with the local men and when asked about it by their guardians lied about what happened. Wouldn't be the first time it has happened.
Let's not be so quick to pass judgement without first knowing the details.

Because of the constitution and the mindset of the Bahamian people.
No matter how progressive and forward thinking the parliamentarians are, they are bound by the constitution and the people who vote them in.
Maybe one day we will appreciate those who really wanted to move this country forward, as oppose to holding it hostage in the 1960's.

And another fine levied...
Seems like it is easier to murder someone in a traffic accident than using a gun. No jail time, and a minimum fine to pay.
