Wait let me understand this, he married a Canadian woman and was in the process of getting Canadian citizenship. Now he wants the Bahamian government to help get him back "home". Kml... that's some bs if I've ever heard any. He literally was in the process of becoming the citizen of another country. And now that it fell through wants to come back and bring his foreign wife (who cause she's married to a Bahamians man can now apply for citizenship) to live here in The Bahamas.
Am I the only person who sees something wrong with this?Let him stay stuck in Canada, no one sent him up there looking for citizenship. Smh... don't come now looking for the government to bail you out. There are too many Bahamians that don't have the luxury of leaving the country that need help right here in The Bahamas.
You can't win in this country, this man attempted to evade police by driving a speeding vehicle towards them. It's obvious that the man had a reason for attempting to evade the police, and one can assume it's was something illegal. Now had said man been allowed to speed off and escape and then later was involved in something illegal, there would be the cry about crime being high and the police aren't doing anything.
No matter which way the wind blows it seems Bahamians can't be please with how the police handle matters. Let the criminals run amok they cry, apprehend them and they cry. For goodness sake, what do Bahamians want from the police?
Innocent people rarely run from the law... and they definitely don't aim a speeding car at the police. It was a bad decision on his part, and sadly it cost him his life.
Could possibly be shallow water blackout and then he drowned. I'm assuming if they were spearfishing this was being done free diving (as is the law), so shallow water blackout is a possibility.
I am sick and tired of seeing this old politicians still seeking to run for government positions. I feel that they need to make the retirement age for a politician 65. Meaning that after 65 you cannot seek to run for elected positions. Furthermore if a person will be turning 65 within 2yrs of filling the position then they cannot run for the position.
Leslie Miller and all them other old politicians need to get out the way to allow for new blood to make it's way into the HOA. That's the problem now with this country, a bunch of archaic politicians with equally archaic ideas at the helm. They refuse to get out of the way to allow for the younger generation to move this country forward into an era of progressive thinking. SMH!!!
And truthfully it's all because they are addicted to the limelight and wanting to feel like celebrities.
He's correct, there is hardly any US currency in circulation. So that should indicate how important those tourism dollars are to the economy. We are just circulating the same funds, nothing new is coming in.
Personally I feel Arawak Homes knew that these homes were being erected and they thought it more lucrative to sit back and wait to pop up at a later date, to claim the land was their own to start with.
It's not the first time Franklyn Wilson and Arawak homes have done unscrupulous things. It wouldn't shock me if they were the ones who illegally acquired the land.
I just find it hard to believe that for 30yrs they didn't realize that persons had built homes on land they supposedly owned. This island isn't that big, 250 houses built and no one from Arawak homes was aware. I can't see that being the case... and if it were what happened to squatters rights? Some of these people have lived in the home long enough to have paid off mortgages.
All fun and games until they requesting your HIV status. No one has the right to access anyone's medical records without their expressed permission. I don't even see why this is an issue...only in The Bananas 🇧🇸
That is the problem with our country today, no one takes anything seriously. Once you sign up for a job such as the police or defence force, you represent the best interest of this country. To involve yourself in acts that bring shame to the institution that you represent is plain wrong.
It has nothing to do with being homophobic and everything to do with the appearance of impropriety. What you do behind closed doors is your business, but when you allow someone to record you and share that business with the world then it is no longer private.
In the USA if they had been a part of any military they would have been discharged for bringing dishonor to the institution. Only here in The Bahamas we think it's okay to disrespect the military/police and no one sees an issue with it. It's shameful...
Someone tell Ms. Sadie Cox that the bodies were embalmed and therefore not frozen and stink. Also please tell her even if they weren't embalmed (which they were) frozen cannot be stink. #ijs
Furthermore, the government did the right thing in burying those people. Many criticized the government for how they handled the situation, but truth is many of those bodies were not claimed. And unless the DNA evidence was conclusive you cannot just release a body to someone because they claim it belongs to their family.
On a serious note though, now is not the time to play politics. Bahamians are in dire need, now is the time to come up with sensible ideas on how to rebuild the economy.
