Well I am sorry to say I rather the police be safe than sorry, in this day and age with crime being what it is the goose will have to to suffer with the gander. If that means searching any and all who may look suspicious whether they are or not I am backing the police on it.
What they should do is require proper identification before being able to pawn any items. Once you come into the store with items to be sold ID must be presented (and by ID that means government issue passport or drivers license) then your item/s will be properly documented and set aside for a minimum of a 30days along with a copy of your ID. This way if the items are stolen the police will then be able to track who attempted to sell stolen goods and who stole them.
But oh wait...this would make way to much sense and we all know the Bahamian government is seriously lacking in that department.
Personally it sounds to me as though this lady never taught her children who they are. I attending primary school in an European country for a few years and the school was all white. There were only two other black students there aside from my sibling and I. I always was taught by my mother who I was, my father was Caucasian but that didn't make me Caucasian and my mom made sure me and my sibling were both aware of that.
It seems to me that Mrs. Chavez's children might have some misconstrued concept of who they are. I have seen many black children attend white schools and live in affluent areas and forget that they are black because they are rarely around other black people. So when confronted with the very obvious fact that they are black suddenly it becomes an issue.
If Mrs. Chavez had instilled in her child from earlier who they were this situation may have ended differently. I faced many racist remarks and situations during my time abroad but my mother had already made me realize who I was and no amount of insults could change that.
So they are saying that they don't evaluate the mental state of these policemen...every time I think the stupidity of our Bahamian government has reached a peak they surprise me. Why would they think that it would be okay to not have mentally evaluated these person before handing them a gun and badge? Some of these officers are carrying loads of issues from childhood even adulthood and they could be triggered by any number of things.
Do you think the various military of the world mentally evaluate their soldiers because it's a fun thing to do. It's done to ensure that these people who are responsible for the health and safety of others are themselves healthy and safe. SMH!!!
/and another moment of raw and unadulterated stupidity of the Bahamian government brought to you courtesy of Tribune reporting sources.
It's because Bahamians have always had this mentality that the "white" man is better and they will help him capitalize on Bahamian resources and then when it gets to a point they will turn.
Bahamians have no loyalty everyone seeks to please themselves, from the government straight on down to the lowly person selling fruit on the roadside. It is sad but true, Bahamians are a bunch of bandwagoners with a gimme gimme attitude, and they become disgruntle and jealous when they see the next person profit.
They will agitate and go about handling the situation in a disgraceful way that will only lead to bad things minding people who don't even live in Inagua or whose primary source of income has nothing to do with Morton Salt. Mind- they following these union people talking about strike and walk out and such but I could almost bet money the people running the union don't work for Morton and rely on them for making ends meet. A classic case of cutting of your nose to spite your face...then when they sitting at home because Morton Plant closed they want to first blame the government.
I feel they can negotiate better salaries and terms of employment without strike and involving this inept government in a privately owned company business.
I swear Bahamians are sometimes the stupidest bunch of people. They always agitating about the wrong shiite. Morton Salt has been operation in Inagua for years and it's the only thing that little piece of island has going as far as good solid employment for the residents. Why jeopardize that because niggas cannot ever be satisfied. Strikes are not the only way to resolve issues...
Personally I wish Morton Salt fires all of them who strike and shut down the whole factory. Then niggas will be complaining about how Morton shut down with no warning and left them jobless and the government need to help because they have children to feed and bills to pay.
I just don't understand the mentality of the common Bahamian person....
Yet you don't see niggas holding strikes cause the government reneged on promises made, or because crime is through the roof. Nah they good with that...let the government feed them a bunch of lies and propaganda not a peep.
Please someone tell me this was a mis-report. There is no way the Bahamas government is seeking temporary shelter for illegal immigrants. I don't believe it...Mr. Rolle must have reported this story incorrectly.
The only place illegal immigrants should be relocated is back to whatever country they illegally migrated from.
“Anytime you have a tragedy like this, the government’s first priority is a utilitarian effort, providing a temporary shelter to those who would’ve suffered,” Mr Curry said. “*The immigration policy is still in force and I’m sure the Department of Immigration will use due diligence to bring under control the immigration problem on the island.”*
Mr. Curry must be a jackarse...the only way the Dept of Immigration can bring the immigration problem under control is to deport people who are here without proper documentation.
As a legal Bahamian I am highly irate that they would seek to house illegal immigrants anywhere other than the detention centre and prepare for deportation. WTF is wrong with the Bahamas government...draining our limited resources to provide for people who are here illegally. Utilitarian my ass...provide food and shelter at the detention centre and send them home.
Just let me get my family out before "yinna" stage a coup. I seriously think with all the corruption in the government and crime on the streets Bahamians are headed in that direction.
And yet look at the HUGE difference between those roads out Cable Beach and the ones elsewhere. They should have let Bahamar do all the new roads then maybe people wouldn't be driving in tight circles on Baillou Hill Road and Market Street.
