That is because New Fortress is back in the picture..or at least to some degree...they lost out to Shell..next step...grease politicians to fire board..will wait and see...I thought as well the Shell proposal had been reviewed and approved at cabinet.
Bannister just needs to stay out of BPL.hands out of the cookie jar!!! .He has caused this by putting his friend Rollins on the board to begin with. I also await Mrs.Osbourne..Mrs. Thompson's and Mr. Dean's comments. I have a feeling we will be shocked..though not surprised... what the MOW and friends have been up too.
In the meantime ...would it not be interesting to see what is happening at BPL contract wise/purchase wise.... while there is no board in place....as the CEO and the MOW's friend Rollins are still in place
I also believe Bannister should be fired immediately. It is apparent that he has been medaling in BPL. Clearly the Chairperson and certain Directors were not falling into line..hence his appointment of his "friend" as Executive Director. This Executive Director collecting a huge paycheck from a broke company and he possesses no relevant technical skills..really..can you be more obvious??? He would be dealing with Shell NA..really!!! You also have a CEO that was let go under dubious circumstances in Freeport. Most recently you have the unions verbally noting their frustration about the present CEO..his hiring practices and the irrelevant hiring of this Executive Director. According to the unions this CEO has steered the company to its **worst** **state in its history**. So Heastie has serious conflicts at a board level..with staff...and the company is struggling. Other companies would replace the CEO to start.
When ever has the power company had three executive positions that held board posts and company positions...isn't that conflicting..so why would Bannister do this???
As of today the people protecting the company (Chairperson/Directors) have been removed but the **CEO/Executive Director are still employed**...speaks volumes to me..and the CEO/Executive Chair resigned to begin with....was this orchestrated???
At a minimum they should also be removed. This FNM hopes Mrs.Osbourne..Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Dean are reinstated. There is a reason Bannister/Rollins/Heastie and Bethel want you gone.....which is why myself as a "tax payer/shareholder" of BPL want you back in place.
This sounds like smoke & mirrors to me....an opportunity for the CEO to get his people in place....then the deals will be done...my guess next will be "outsourcing to consultants". Follow the money....
I find it interesting that the CEO feels it necessary to throw daggers at staff at Clifton..or management at all...I am sure he is well aware of the challenges..and given the age of the units and lack of funding.. companies struggles in collecting its payables...it is amazing that they run at all...that speaks volumes to me how hard the staff works...But instead feels it necessary to demoralize the staff in the papers...what’s the point here...cause Abaco has not improved that much....wasn’t stories about a month being run that funding was late so overhauls could not be done at Clifton etc...you sure you not throwing blame on staff when the blame should drop at your feet...
While this Mr. Heastie always talks well...I am suspect of his knowledge base... given he was fired I hear from Grand Bahama..a company that provides less power than what Nassau draws......I am sure plenty deals will be cut to "get Clifton Pier" back to "full usage".. Everyone knows the engines are old and need replacing....the unions have even confirmed publically these engines have out lived their lifespans and the problem is procurement and non payment of vendors!!! Stop the BS or at least get your stories straight!!!
I am surprised the company obtained funding given its long standing struggles..so the board must have some degree of negotiating skills and command some level of respect...or there would be no funding. Saying that ...am tired of the old adage of nepotism..the MOW appointing an Executive Director..his friend..who is woefully unqualified to mentor a CEO that I hear was let go from his previous job..sounds like yes men..but to whom and for how much..will it ever change????? Feeling not hopeful....hope it really isn’t how it looks!!
Given the financial challenges which face this company combined with the recent separation packages....... why is an Executive Director being appointed?? I am sure this comes with a sizable salary and perks. Also ...is this the same person that owns "Wood You"?? He "left" BTC years ago.....is he even recognized in this country by the local engineering body? Is he even an engineer.. or a glorified technician. I am sure you could hire two younger engineers who are more appropriately trained and far more current in the field of transmission/power generation for the same or close to the amount that is being paid to Mr. Rollins.. someone who has limited to no experience in this field...who actually makes these decisions?? The Minister??..Value for money... Boy I tell ya...."say training in fraud control"...isn't this the same Patrick Rollins that sat on the NFS Board...which was engulfed in dishonest practices.....smt!!!! Starting to look like nepotism...Bahamians deserve better man!!!
Isn't this the same person (BICA president) who advised the previous administration...and there were multiple downgrades? Hopefully the "seat at the table" will be filled by someone other than the BICA president. Not sure he is the best fit to be advising on internal controls and discipline...will be interested to see who is "nominated". I hope this does not simply end up being a pathway for another political opportunist....sigh...
The Christie administration recommended NF and tried to sign a contract prior to the last election but was stopped if I remember correctly.
This new BPL board and new consultants began a new RFP and concluded Shell NA is the best fit. If this story is accurate why then is Cabinet considering another company that what not chosen by industry experts through a proper RFP vetting process. I am sure NF submitted a bid. It would be interesting to know what exempts them from the process to be considered at Cabinet..if that is correct. Is it because of the connection with the APD? Not sure. Either way, seems inappropriate.
