ThisOurs And Rory, I generally agree with most post but in this situation i have to disagree. The webb shop owners are in violation of the laws and i think gambling destroys individuals but my argument is the government has created a environment with the passage of self discriminating laws limiting our people from capitalizing on Tourism, in this case legalized gambling. An environment exist where in terms of business and investment the majority of Bahamians are treated as second class citizen especially when it comes to accessing capital. A lack of free market Capitalism creates slaves and criminal enterprises like the Webb Shops ran by shady individuals. To give u an example my mortgage rate here in the U.S. is 3.8 %, my car loan is 0.9 % and I have access to capital through a competitive processes to start a business. I can invest in wealth generative assets in the market without being penalized for just taking part. I can walk into any casino and gamble if i have legal age and resource. I have a choice of many privately ran electric, power, or phone companies for services which controls prices and quality. My belief is, like prohibition and the Mob, Webb Shops are the result of a heavily socialized society that limits individual freedoms, eliminates competition, feeds corruption, keeps people poor and government dependent. Change the law allowing every and any Bahamian Citizen to gamble legally like it suppose to be in a free society and see how quickly the Webb shops vanish. The Christian Council should not be at any business table, Religion is a personal matter in a free society. There is no perfect system on this earth but u will find that in heavily socialized societies like the Bahamas there is more unchecked corruption, and generally a lower standard of living for the masses. A large segment of the population dependent on corrupt politicians handing out free Christmas turkey and ham for votes. A system that keeps people poor, A system where its easy for criminals to flourish.. We have taken up all of the negative aspects of American ghetto society in our attitudes and behaviors but non of its positives with choices and free market capitalism. I am Bahamian to the Core but have lately change my mind about returning home because i don't like the crime situation or the way we treat our own people...
Clearly the Government has to step up and start enforcing laws on our waters to stop this large amount of humane trafficing that has been going on for years.. The recent fires in Abaco & our crime problems further highlighs the many dysfunctions, I see a Country without order, a place where the rule of law does not exist, a Country where anyone can illegally come and set up shop.. Government Leaders get up of your ass this morning and do something about this B.S, the country is swiftly turning into a third world shit hole..
Todd u got played but luckily for u there are millions of these so called christian women outside your doorstep.. Even better if you got a good job & some benefits, they'll find u...Unfortunately many of them are past there expiration date and mileage is racked up on lifes odometer into the 200000's by the time they discover Jesus. Anyone u meet online these days should be viewed with great suspicion especially one whose main focus is to enter the U.S. Hopefully u did not spend to much $$$ on her and can recover with dignity..
That's not a plan, that's more b.s., 12 hr shift causes burnouts in that enviroment, u want them on 8's.. We are not dealing with gangs but rather sets & neigborhood groups.. First problem is too many people out of Patrol, patrol is the backbone of any police agency & to effectively deal with street crime u need people on the street, Trust me I have 15 years Law Enforcement experience. U cannot reduce crime with a bloated top heavy agency with a bunch of people working bankers hours. U cannot defeat crime without the help of the community or a relationship with the community. U cannot fight crime if prayer & qouting scripture is your solution to lifes problems. U cannot defeat crime long term with a bunch of reckless breeding, piss poorly educated, unemployed, young men running around without a purpose. U cannot fight crime by being reactive, u must be proactive. Lastly, U cannot defeat crime if your national security minister is a gynocologist..
Watched bankers link & while I am compassionate to the sufferring, religious rationalization will not help.. The bible itself talks about faith without works.. This is why nothing gets done & every time u try to get into a reason & logic conversation with many Bahamians they play the religious card. Karl Marx when he said Religion is the Opiate of the Mases was on point..
What Severe Methods, The Government cannot violates its own laws and must distinguish itself as the upholder of the Law. This is useless conversation, All u have to do is enforce the legal methods already available but that takes competence. Let me help u guys out BJ Nottage, with legal methods: 1). Order all inside Cops who have been sitting on there ass working bankers hours back to patrol, especially the band.. 2). Have Officers run a minimum of 100 tags per day per Officer on patrol especially Honda Vehicles... 3) Hold police commanders accountable for the crime in there areas, and punish them with demotion if there areas are not secured, this will force these Commanders to establish a better relationship with the community because u cannot fight crime without people plus there careers will be on the line.. No more lazy Cops working bankers hours, No more reactive policing, no more promotions to put people behind desk and blank the streets. No more B.S. units that suck personnel out of patrol and assign people to bankers hours doing nothing.. U don't need to pay overtime just get the slackers back out onto the street and enforce the law. That means 24-7, the majority of them should be on duty working 8 hour shifts between 4 p.m -12 a.m and 12 a.m to 8 a.m the next day everyday.. Walking the beat, stopping and searching illegal cars etc, all day, everyday and u will be shocked how many guns, stolen cars or just vehicle being operated illegally.. The criminals are either ridding around all day in stolen or illegal vehicles or holding communities hostages, they're not hiding u guys r not proactively disrupting there life and creating a unfriendly environment for criminals. In this environment the majority of these hardened criminal would have been legally shot dead by police already, no need for court, trials, or privy council..
Concernedcitizen, Bid, I knew its was coming LOL... But you're right, unfortunately this reckless breeding has been going on for decades and does feed this crime monster.. In the long term there is definitely a need for more emphasis on family planning or even just more usage of birth control..
Actually the Police force don't same to have a clue and most of there responses are reactive, not proactive... Look at the organisational structure and the assignment of personnel in the Police Department. Too many people in ass sitting jobs working bankers hours.. How many criminals have to commit crimes in stolen or unregistered Honda Accords, Civic etc, before they figure out if we randomly run license plates to determine the status of all vehicles on the street we can engage criminals before they offend or at best get illegal uninsured, unregistered vehicles of the street. Lastly Nobody can move weapons or drugs that easily into and out off the Bahamas without the assistance of corrupt Cops and RBDF Officers. Professionalism in the RBPF has to be establish before u can do anything, that means an aggressive internal affairs department to rid the agency of criminals and evaluate responses to incidents. Despite the problems with the courts system i don't get the fact that there is no accountability with the Superintendents for Crimes committed in there areas or districts, thats what Com Stat was supposed to be about... Tell me the last time a Superintendent or Boss has been demoted or fired for poor performance with crime suppression in a area. U cannot reduce crime without accountability from the Police and the cooperation from People in the Community..
