This dialogue here is good, regardless of opinions we can all agree people who have been put in these positions of public trust must answer to the people on how the people's money is being spent. The biggest problem we have in our country is the career politician and a lack of oversight.. Many of these people are nothing more than used car salesman and it has been this way for as long as i can remember.. Politicians are your employee's and they are spending your money, therefore every Bahamian has a right to ask for the exact cost of a tax payer funded trip, project, or expediture and get the numbers in a timely manner. We should be able to go to the internet and pull up every public employee's salary and expenses for the year and question them on it if we feel it is inappropriate.. Remember people Nelson Mandela only spent 5 years as a politician and i believe its was for good reasons..

ThisisOurs, I agree.. There is just not enough facts in this matter for anyone reading this article to understand or justify six years.. We all can agree something has to be done with the loose culture of gun violence but we have to be careful not to treat violent criminals and those acting in defense of their lives the same. I would want to look at his Criminal Case History starting from when he was a juvenile, his contributions to the community, and the manner in which these weapons were used that got him arrested. If he has a lousy Criminal History and represents a threat to anyone, give him an additional 4 years and make it 10... We live in a society of laws but If any sane, law abiding citizen believes through reason and logic that people are trying to kill them, they should have the right to arm themselves for protection and use whatever force is necessary against Criminals... It's better to be judged in court than carried by six...

Domin1, I think one solution would be for the government & public to raise funds for a national roundup day & along with volunteers train & hire people out of work to humanely capture the dogs. Place them in a pound temporarily.. Adopt out what we can but its sad to say that many of the animals are going to have to be humanely put to sleep. Offer $10.00 per dog to the volunteers alive and uninjured only..

Tory my 1st grader can do this, I see u, u see me.. Whose's hidding, be home in 2 weeks... This is the day of technology anyone with half a brain can find anyone who has a job, an address, phone number, computer, etc.. Back to topic, i get your point about bigger issues but why stop people from helping a problem at there own exspense, let them do that so we can focus on more important issues. I was born in the farrington road area and grew up in grants town so i am as Bahamian as anyone else, but unlike when i grew up things have changed dramatically, people live in fear for good reason and the question is how do we deal with this issue. When i'm home i'm in the ghetto, my family lives there and that's where i'm from so its real for me.. That's the difference between me and you..

I share your outrage banker, I spend most of my time out the country because of this but I love my country, yet I have never felt more unsafe @ home as I do now.. My folks live over the hill & like everyone else live under constant fear of being robbed or killed. For the life of me I cannot understand why we are our own worst enemies.. To the volunteers with operation potcake I apologize to u on behalf of the nation, we are not all ignorant or greedy and appreciate your help and dedication. Thank you.

The point i keep trying to make is this is a tragedy..Nobody wants this to happen and we all understand why they take the risk and would do the same in that situation. But for Dr. Minnis to use this tragedy to take a political shot at the opposition is rediculous. Stop faking like u care Dr. Minnis...its intellectually insulting... Our country has so many social problems with high crime, high unemployment, financial issues, systemic and societal moral decay.. These people should have been saved but taking on more illegal immigrants from other countries is suicidal... Nassau is overpopulated and I don't even feel comfortable walking around in certain areas. People are hostages in there homes fearing crime & won't even go out after hours. Its dangerous to even disagree with people these days because small arguments turn to stabbings and shoot outs.. We have a lot of work to do resolving our issues within our own Country, Haiti please do the same and stop forcing your people out on the open ocean to die.. The Haitian president, all of its politicians and anyone who sponsored this tragedy should be charged with Murder...

Bahamaman, quoting scripture even pedofiles in the church do that, can u hold a intellectual conversation this is not sunday school its the tribune, its usually people like u who r the biggest sinners hidding behind religion.. Ted Haggart, Creflo Dollar, Edie Long & now u.. So many religious people yet our society is a sespool of sin.. Praising Jesus, molesting kids, murdering & stealing from the poor.. Anyone with a 2nd grade education can quote scrpture. By the way your response sounds judmental isn't that a sin.. Lastly Dr. MINNIS is taking a political shot give n an opportunity he is using the situation to his advantage its not about the people who lost there life.
