There are many truths to what Rory is saying, our culture is watered down with American and Jamaican culture and music, but the greater systemic problems is with the government and the Education of the People especially the poor.. As a country we are hard on the poor, a lot of our people will look u up and down and turn their backs on u if u r not on their status level. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of wonderful people but it is this turning a blind eye to the needs of our brothers and sisters that fuels the problem.. It makes matters worse that we have a government of politicians that have careers lasting over thirty years feeding of the status quo..They know that if we don't push harder to deal with issues of poverty, poor education, family planning, employment, and livable wages, a generation of criminals will be at our door with Guns.. We have to destroy the feeding source of Crime...
The DPM is 2nd in command, and in this situation left 1st in command.. He could order whatever security detail he wants because he is the DPM.. At issue is whether despite previous comments by the DPM about Nobody is safe and what happened to his body guard, it sames he never followed his own advice and secured his safety and that of his family.. I am of the belief these guys think it would never happen to them.. The body guard shooting he just blew that off, hey i was out the country plus he had my vehicle around those savages he probably thought.. They are delusional about the crime problem because nobody is robbing them until now.. Wake up, its time to get real about crime..
Three things must happen today, police commissioner fired, minister of national security fired, Attorney General fired....New blood hired, professional Bahamian's that have not spent there entire life as a politician... We have Bahamians @ home & abroad, time to get rid of career, useless, recycled plp & fmn politicians. Until we do that nothing will change with crime..
These guys not thinking anyone gonna rob them, Robbery, what, that's for the peasants over the Hill in the Ghetto? Guns were probably in the trunk of the car as they sat and enjoyed a delicious breakfast..
I'm still shocked at this story, this takes balls and a certain commitment to recklessness.. This is disturbing on 3 different fronts. The degree of lawlessness going on in the Country, The careless and bold nature of the criminals, and the lax nature of security surrounding DPM Davis which indicates that regardless of his prior statements he does not take the crime problem serious.. The question now is what message does this send to citizens living their daily life trying to survive about there safety? What reassurance can the Police Commissioner give the people that crime is down and say it with a serious face?
Now he feels what everyone else feels daily, I don't wish this on anyone but for people in positions of power or affluent Individuals to take crime serious this has to happen..You see the world different when its gets personal.
John33xyz, In what universe is this progress on an illegal, dysfunctional matter.. what process needs to be undertaken when u know as a fact money is being syphoned illegally out of National Security by these persons double dipping right now as we speak.. What moral person would do this anyway? They know its wrong.. It can be stopped today, enough with the stealing of money, and for the idiots doing it u are bankrupting your future benefits for temporary gratifications and greed.. The same people stealing the money will be in church praising Jesus
