Man I feel so sorry for the Bahamians to have this stupid twat speaking for them. It makes the country look so dumb. I read the words coming out of that fool and in an instant it confirms that it was the right choice to pull out of the country and create jobs elsewhere - thanks for the reminder!

World isn't watching, the world doesn't care. Watching the Bahamas is like watching a runner in a marathon running into the wrong direction. And while he runs and yells "everyone else is wrong" the distance between the Bahamas and the rest of the world is getting bigger. At some point everyone else won't hear that runner anymore.

Wow! Is there hope for Bahamas? Wish I would have heard those words a year ago before we decided to pull out our companies and sell our properties... might have given the country another chance... we'll see, gonna watch closely what this government is doing.

What pissed me off most is that you can not get anything done in the Bahamas without paying the bribes. You want temporary residency ? Pay and get it in 2 weeks delivered to your house. Don't pay and a year later you still don't have it. Permanent residency is the same thing just more expensive as you have to pay some politicians who cost more than the average immigration officer. My company developes games for xbox and pc, we are partners of Valve, Microsoft and Sony - backed up with millions for each project that comes to live. I offered recruiting Bahamians and building up a school/academy for game and software development that's securely funded by our company and partners - so we could recruit staff directly and also make the Bahamas a destination for software development. All I wanted in return is getting my residency and permits to do so. I simply gave up after 2 years - all I got was people who are working in the government asking for money - and once you paid one the next one came along... End of story is we sold all properties and moved our HQ back to Spain where we proceed building the academy. And rather than asking for money people in the government who got aware of the project are asking if they can bring in their kids.

Actually a lot of growth comes from letting foreigners into your country. Since you guys are doing the opposite your economy also does the opposite - it's quite simple. Personally I tried to live in the Bahamas, bringing an investment group and a lot of money. As I was not welcome we just moved on and created jobs elsewhere. It's like someone earlier mentioned - you are competing with other countries and apparently you don't seem to realize that.

Wow... so happy I left this country... I'd rather burn a million dollar or two in a furnace than putting it in Dumbo Nation. Such a beautiful place unfortunately owned by racist and uneducated fools.

Your immigration approval process takes longer than a year - and that's with bribing immigration officers...

News like these set the tone for foreigners like me who could bring a few million dollars your nation.

And then the amount of stupidity - almost like Bahamians dont know that through immigration there are always more jobs created than people are actually coming to your nation. Just fooking google it...

In my country - germany - we invited Syrians. Over 800.000 foreigners who migrated to Germany created 1.2 million jobs in 2014

The US became the biggest economy in the world - it's a nation of immigrants.

The sad part is the Bahamas are such a small nation that it should be significantly easier to govern the country in a proper and effective way. It could be one of the best places to live at in the world. You guys need a revolution. A real one where everyone wonders where all the crooks went and no one can find them

This scam only works in the Bahamas. Bad education and greed - perfect place to run a scam like this.

It takes longer than 1 year to renew temporary residency without bribing - so if you don't bribe the immigration officers you will automatically become an illegal... We had to fly back and forth to Miami every 3 month to avoid that. At some point you just give them the 2.000$ to get your residency cards in just 2 weeks...
