Mr. Stuart would do well to withdraw from active politics all together. Many FNMs would agree that he has brought nothing to the table. He seems hellbent on worming his way into parliament. There must be other personal endeavors you want to pursue Mr. Stuart. We are pleased that you are so enthusiastic about our democracy but one has to be realistic. If you had lost with your former BDM party I would have said ok well this guy stuck to his guns even if it meant him losing. But a defeat again and this time with a major political party I'm sure changes the game for you. Sometimes we can do more to help others in our private lives than we can publicly. Service to others is service to others. You don't need a public platform to serve others.
Its funny how people rationalize things. **Cc** makes a comment describing the end of a man's life as ironic and compares it with the cheapness of the end of a political career. Whatever one may have felt for the man I think Bahamians need to learn to have some decorum and tact. There are those who mourn his loss and it is a real nasty thing to do to try to cloak a jeer in the context of irony.
At **ConcernedCitizen** I think you and I would agree on quite a few things. From several of my posts I'm sure you know full well my straightforwardness. Across all party lines, I call it as I see it. But I have to say my friend, some things are better left unsaid in public. There are still mourners and I think we need to refrain from reducing discussions of someones passing into a free for all. I believe we can be critical of someone's choices and beliefs while still maintaining some semblance of respect. "Remember oh man that dust thou art and to dust though shall return."
The FNMs need to get a life because they know better than to behave as though its only the PLP that does do fool. It is this same stupid tribalism that is stagnating our development. I made very clear that I'm a PLP supporter in my previous post and I also made it very clear that I believe that it would be a stupid decision to give this woman any placement in that department. There is a sense of entitlement in both these major parties. It explains very clearly why some who have lost twice in previous elections were allowed to run. A prime example is Mr. Foulkes. Any sensible FNM, and I've spoken to many, couldn't understand why he was being run again. But just like the PLP there is a sense of entitlement and this feeling as though they've paid their dues or that their family has been loyal. Well, I will say this both of these major parties are playing games. Ask yourself where are these people living? What schools their kids going to? Where is their grand vacation this year? They living the life and you piss poor and celebrating. Both parties need a good house cleaning. The FNM needs to wake up and realize that Papa can't do it for you no more and the sensible thing to do would have been to plan in advance of all this. But I suspect the PLP will do the same thing. Fumble around til the last minute and then look for a leader. All because they don't want to hurt the feelings of the PM. But you see these people forget. Its not about them. Its about the sustainability of the party. I've said it before and I will say it again. The PLP doesn't belong to any one person or family. The FNM doesn't belong to Papa or any of the other families involved in that party. We have to wake up and smell the roses and see that the party ultimately has the say as to who becomes leader. I think we forget that. Again, I'm a PLP but I aint taking no ..... from these fellas this time. We bringing the noise this time round. Do what you suppose to do or get lost.
At least Town Planning got something right. These fellas love to make the areas where others live a ghetto. How about this? Why don't we put a Wendy's near to Old Fort Bay or over PI near the beautiful homes of the Ocean Club. Or better still how about putting one even remotely near the gates of Lyford Cay. There's a plaza already there so why they want crowd up people's area with fast food joints they wouldn't want near there's? No one asked them to buy that land and not get approval beforehand. That's their business. Pay rent just like everyone else. These people too like to have things their way.
This is another load of bollocks. I didn't agree with how she was treated by the FNM administration but I must say this is total rubbish. It creates disharmony and discord in an office already full to the brim with ego. This coupled with the manic Allyson Maynard is a recipe for explosives. Can you say dynamite? If you want to appease her I suggest finding something else for her to do. But it appears that the PM is hellbent on causing problems in thee ministries. You put a former subordinate to the COP and many of the other high ranking officers as a state minister and expect them to respect or like him? Stupid. I don't care if you want to reward Bell for service to the party, but I think its a bad idea to put him in this position. Put him in youth, or some other role. I don't know. But for crying out loud don't put a former lower ranked officer in a position to instruct policy that his former bosses must carry out. Further more I don't know what so called expertise he brings that the COP can't advise the minister on anyway. A half way law degree doesn't make you an expert on anything. Get it right I'm a PLP. But I simply believe I have to ride my party hard. Because niceness doesn't seem to work with you all. And right now the PM, Perry practicing a whole lot of .. .. anyway let me hold my tongue.
Bahamians can knock the Archbishop all they like but he is correct in recommending a code of ethics. The problem that I have with it is there is no enforcement of these so called codes. The problem is Bahamians don't know how and when to resign. They holding on so dearly to a paycheck that they fool themselves into believing they've done nothing wrong. So I would say that the Archbishop needs to be the first to say something if a scandal arises and the PM refuses to act. The church and the media need to do a better job guarding the principles of this country. These politicians forget themselves and do whatever they want, whenever they want. And that's on both sides of the aisle. Mr. Ingraham was dishonest when he claimed scandal free government and the PLP will too have its share of issues. All I ask is that our politicians be honourable and resign when you've messed up. Writing it on paper as a code means nothing to me. Simple, if yah mess up pack up your marbles and move on and if you refuse to move on the PM needs to have the balls to fire you and be quick about it. Or in the event that you find your personal principles compromised by a cabinet decision have the integrity to stand up and resign. But I think our politicians have very little principles that they firmly believe in. We always compromise our beliefs to satisfy others. That's all folks!
Seriously, if Mrs. Wilson is appointed as President of the Senate I would be disappointed. This is my second time voting for the PLP and I would be totally annoyed with this appointment. She was the president before. So can't see the point of once again making her president. She's not so eminently qualified that she must be reappointed ahead of others who have been appointed to the senate. It adds insult to injury seeing that he brings back Allyson Maynard to be AG and now Mrs. Wilson to be considered for Senate President. For both positions we have a stable of young men and women who are more than qualified and deserve the opportunity to perform these roles. It doesn't take any great sense of wisdom or genius to convene senate hearings so the argument about experience etc is a crock of ****. The PLP doesn't belong to these few families as some in our party seem to believe. Just as the FNM does not belong to Ingraham. Both parties need to use their sense and let these people know that the party doesn't belong to a select group of families. I'm really sick of both of these parties playing games. Mr. Christie, I will say this in the politest of manners. " Get it together." Trust me along with a few other youths in the PLP we will hold you and your government to account. Enough silence and giddy party support. Everyone else suppose to sit back and punish while your family and the old party hierarchy live and eat well. Then you put on this sanctimonious face and act like you so love the people. Well you don't love people and still keep the doors closed to them and their families. I'm sure that the circle of families in the rank and file of the PLP have benefited enough from the party and the country. Enough is enough.
