That view is amazing! It's the view that cruise passengers have enjoyed from the upper decks of their ships, while they sip all-inclusive cocktails and food, for years. Why someone would get off their ship to visit the current downtown and buy Bahamian branded souvenirs made in China, is beyond me.
England and Scotland did not have slaves. Blaming colonialism for slavery and then trying to implicate the British by association only works on dummies. Slavery existed in Africa long before sailing ships were invented.
12 million slaves were transported of which 10.5 lived. Of those, 400,000 went to North America. The vast majority went to Brazil and the rest of LatAm and the Caribbean, where they were enslaved by what we now refer to as "people of colour". I hope Mr.Armbrister feels 10 times the animosity toward Brazilians as he does toward "white pigs".
Your government would love you to blame the foreigners but sadly, this is a Bahamian problem of corruption, ineptitude, and a population that wants to be G7 in terms of the benefits provided by the government. The pressure to expand taxation is local, have no doubt about that.
