“And, besides the challenges in penetrating the rock, this newspaper was also told that decades of oil spills and other BPL-related pollution at Clifton Pier means that the water pulled up by the wells to-date us unusable because it contains multiple forms of waste and harmful chemicals.“

Government is always the worst polluter.

But thankfully we have a plastic bag ban, not to worry, the years of contamination will clean it self.

If ever a country has demonstrated that it should not be a country, well that would be us here in the Bahamas.

So much corruption, incompetence and stupidity, we would all be better off if USA would just take us over. We simply do not have the ability to operate a country.

This seems a pretty important program to not get funding enough to operate

Put a tax on every sugary product to start immediately and put all those funds towards diabetes

Chucky says...

Maybe cancel one little bit of planned construction or road maintenance to divert funding.

Or, put some of the kickback money towards diabetics.

Where did vat money go?

Ain’t hurricane repair stuff duty free

Should make everything going there duty free.

Too many idiot in charge. Give a Bahamian a little power and watch em turn into a tyrant.

It’s like our people are shinning examples of the the Stanford prison experiment. Our people will complain about stuff all day, but give them the power and they’ll happily put you through even worse.

What would you rather, SuperValu’s profit a billion or lose 100k?

If the profit a billion that means we all done get rip off. If they loaded 100k, that means we getting grocery cheap than we should be. Maybe the balance is at very modest profit, but certainly we as society do not want any business making excessive profits

It’s a zero sum game. Ie a finite amount of money going round the circle, we do not want business making tons of money, cause that means a good portion of that profit, which doesn’t get reinvested will be out of the loop.

Notice our Bahamian elite invest very little in our country. Other than their monopolies, they do nothing. That’s why all the foreign own all hotels.

Trust me , profit is just funnelling money from the people to the few, and that doesn’t improve anything.

The worlds richest few own more than the masses combined. You like that?

How is that different from when the king stole all?

How is this good new. It’s a zero sum game, that the rich continually win, which means the average / poor continue to loose.

Objectively, this should be reported as bad news for the nation, as 99.99 % percent will loose whatever extra this small group gains.

Society should cheer wage rises and business losses, not increasing business profits.
