Well as you know, we have to have Bahamian citizens in parliament. So as for how much longer we continue to elect the inept, unqualified and incapable, might I ad corrupt; well this shall continue until such time as we raise more worthy people, or allow non citizens to run this country.
Can argue and profess that we are a country with plenty of worthy candidates, but the evidence for that is yet to bare any fruit.
Not that it’s of any comfort, but most nations with similar history and limited gene pools are in the same predicaments; the odd successful one is the anomaly.
We are where these circumstance would have us be.
Ask yourself, in what circumstance is a doctor or a lawyer the best candidate to lead a nation. Clearly the circumstance persists when no viable alternative is present; ie we have nobody worthy.
Why not criminalize the hiring of illegals and....
Lol. Wait, this is a crime, that is rarely enforced. But enforce this, and prosecute and you will see the end of illegal immigration!
Truth is, business wants and needs illegals, it serves to both supply employees for jobs Bahamians wind do, and increase competition so wage growth remains stagnant. And as in every other country, governments cater to business at the expense of their populations, and this is why only a token few non connected are ever charged with employing illegal immigrants.
Well if China pollutes at more than double the rate of USA , that sounds kinda modest, given they have almost 5 times the population.
Noteworthy it’s not their consumption that creates the vast emissions, It their production of goods for the world. And that production of goods in China; well USA is largely responsible for the “production in that location. As it was free trade, as driven by the pursuit of corporate profits that allowed the firing of USA factory workers, and the offshoring of jobs. China was just the “flavour of the day” and best positioned to exploit.
Let’s not loose sight that we’re all a part of this “easy life”. The more resources we have, the more we consume.
I’ve yet to see people en mass shun suvs, yachts, air travel, or any of the other many luxuries driving the “production” that is fueled by carbon based fuels.
Truth is, no government anywhere is trying to do anything meaningful about it. Ie have you heard of any bans on gas guzzling cars, boats, yachts, private jets, etc etc etc.
Begs the question, do the governments really believe this is a problem?
While I can share and appreciate the sentiment that immigration (much illegal) is taxing our country; I’m not sharing in your vicious lies about Haitians. Haitians in general are more polite , harder working and more civil than most of our people. Your lies about them not cleaning up after themselves are pathetic. I have seen time and time again where Bahamians will sit down eat their lunch and throw the chicken and fish bones at their feet. Then sit in the same place the next day and do the same thing.
Look around, wake up and be honest.
20 years ago there were no where near as many Haitians. Yet half of new providence streets were covers in garbage. A car would break down in cable beach and still be in same place 6 months later.
Wanna be smart, make honest points and statements. It’s legitimate to have opinions against illegal immigration / illegal immigrants, but lies are lies and they do nothing to solve the problem. And these lies ruin our case against the illegal immigration as they appear as racial or xenophobic comments, which never can garner support from anyone.
Use tact and factual argument is you want to help solve this problem.
Let’s not forget people that banks will not allow the rebuilding of mortgages homes in Abaco in cases where the home owner depended on a local job to qualify and pay the mortgage.
Ie. the bank is first payable from home insurance when there is a loss and the homeowner has a mortgage
The bank will choose to be paid out.
Example: $250,000 home with a 50% mortgage. Bank will take the mortgage balance out of the insurance payout. As , if the bank allowed the home owner to rebuild with the full insurance payout, the homeowner will still require the mortgage. A mortgage they no longer qualify for since their job is gone. Since the town is wiped out. All the poor / low income people will be left behind after this disaster is sorted out.
