Hey Clamshell If you wanna know the truth; every thing you mention is true and how it really is here, or better yet, its how we are as a society.
And the the fact surprises me that we're not already back to growing tomatoes, because that's what we deserve!
So many like to present this as if its a slight problem and that if we let it carry on this is where we'll end up. The reality, we're alteady there, and we deserve what we've got comming.
This just shows how pathetic our nation and people have become. There is so much uproar over this concert, yet everyone silent on all issues relating to the failure of our State.
There is so much work to be done in our nation, and yet our people cant get past the whats in it for me attitude, and out people refuse to do the work to fix it. We all want to be paid well, with our disgusting entitled attitude, yet we are generally useless lazy and stupid. We are not a nation of hard working highly skilled people, but rather an arrogant bunch of lazy dummies who demand to earn more than the truly skilled and hard working people of the real developed world. Other than the rare athelete , and a few other exceptional people, we have none who should walk and carty such pride. show me a bahamian with pride and i'll show u a deluded individual ( with few exceptions i admit).
So what, we are an ass of a nation and we reap what we sew.
Is anyone really surprised?
To pull this off, the first step would have been to eliminate all Bahamian involvement/ dependancy on Bahamians ,then bring full staff and all infrastructure from the states.
We all lnow that we cant do anything here with our people.
We also know, that there is no extra anything on any of our islands, each island, just barely able to function at the pathetic level of existance that we call normal.
Its only better in the Bahamas , if better, is living with everything substandard and 50 years behind the times.
Notice that even our latest great achievement (bahamar) is mostly being done by everyone but us. Notice we dont run it. Notice all the cruise lines run their own islands. Notice the airport is run by canadians. Notice all banks and large companies are run by foreigners. Notice that anything that works here is run by non Bahamians.
We can all sit here and lie to ourselves and put blame on the party company, as if we could have done better. But the reality, is that theyre mistake was to believe in our people and our places. A fools mistake yes, but being honest, that means its on us.
How come we are so useless as a people and a nation. Im tired of being ashamed of our people and our country.
All we have is false pride. Sadly we have so much false pride that we refuse to see what a crap nation and people we really are.
MassExodus It's funny that you state "Consistently the Bahamas looks horrendous worldwide"; reason being, if it were any different, i.e. if the Bahamas didn't look horrendous world wide, then we'd have a reason to be surprised. This nation is horrendous, the vast majority of our people are, along with the majority of our leaders. We can't help but be seen for what we are. We are a joke, we've got a few people who can sing, a few who can run fast, and a bunch of top notch thieves and con men / corrupt leaders. After that the bulk of the population are lazy people who for the most part run bad scams rather that working for money. Of course there are the few good people, but they likely amount to less than 10% of the total populace.
Hey John, if you had to tell a surgeon to take out one's soul, exactly where on the human body would you tell him to look for it?
It never ceases to amaze me, how so many can be so deluded as to believe religious bull crap. And they do believe, despite the fact that all our religious leaders are clearly thiefin all the money; do you think a preacher man would steal the money on dah plate if he thought there was a god? Of course not, but it pay well to lead the sheeple with religious hogwash.
Hate to break it to you "banker", but when you say "They get to keep all of the educated Bahamian men" ; you are sadly mistaken!: For one, who is the so called "educated Bahamian" man that you are referring to? And for number tow, who the hell would want them. Aint no Bahamian male that comes out of a school has anywhere near the smarts of Canadian graduating the same program. And furthermore, aint no program sufficient in taking the Bahamian male attitude out of them, so they all shi# when they comes out of any program. Stay home in your own shi# country!
If you earn $2000.00 per month, after rent, and misc items that don't get charged Vat tax, one might pay vat on approximately 50% of their income (this is the portion of income one spends in various stores etc). This would amount to 7.5% x $1000.00 =$75.00 per month. Over the year based on this example, you would contribute about $900.00 to the government via vat.
With a 3% healthcare tax, $2000.00 / month x 3% = $60.00 per month, x 12 months = $720.00 contributed per year towards healthcare.
Seems strange that Vat has generated over 1 billion for the government in the first few years, so more than 333 million a year.
Yet the healthcare budget is supposed to be 100 million a year, and they are proposing to collect (take) almost as much as they currently take in via Vat tax. If they are going to spend 100 million per year on healthcare, then perhaps it should be a 1% payroll tax.
What is the meaning of this? I think it the healthcare program is just going to be another cash cow for the government.
Wouldn't it be nice if a politician actually could and would answer these concerns!
might be on the high end of the productive scale if generating revenue is all that you wish to measure.
likely we at the bottom of the productive scale when it comes to how well the vat money is utilized........
Let's face it, we might lead in some things, but not financing, perhaps obeastity (pun intended), least educated nation in the region, corruption, perhaps soon on violent crime, definitely number one in the category of "systemic indifference".......
LOL all sad, as sadly it's all true......................
