When will we ever admit that our problems stem from within, rather than abroad.
Our government can not determine who is the best suited, best qualified, or the best fit for any job. If a company wants to invest and set up here, they deserve the right to choose who they hire.
Clearly it's cheaper to hire a Bahamian , as housing and work permit fees etc are not required; so obviously if a company is hiring foreigners, they are doing so because overall it makes more sense. I.e. they employee will provide a net gain over local Bahamians; and more often than not, this will be as a result of better work ethic, better attitude, more reliable, with the same education they are more likely to be better at their job (real world experience, and not brought up with the Bahamian sense of entitlement).
I'm with Regrolli, we need to make our people the most attractive employees to hire, not make it a requirement to hire substandard people.
Sadly we're probably a generation away from creating the type of employees most companies really want, and that's if we start today.
And all you idiots that want to spew your "false Bahamian pride" (while you throw your kfc garbage out the window of your car) and contest this, you can just shut up, anyone with an honest view knows that the majority of our people are just plain lousy useless wastes of food.
Government cannot regulate the "a##hole" out of the Bahamian, anymore than they can regulate the hydrogen out of the water. The "a##hole" is the foundation of our people, it's what they're made of!
Notice how the decline continues, the more time passes the further we are from our British leadership the worse we get. We are no longer a decent country or people.
We are getting more like countries in our homeland everyday, soon we'll be as bad as any African nation. The best thing that could happen here would be for us to beg the British to take us back.
Somebody please tell me of a black run country that's any good? And I'm black, so that's not a racist driven comment.
I think we should hire an experienced company to run the landfill for a couple of years. Then we can see what a properly run landfill looks like, before we commit to some expensive pie in the aky waste to energy dream.
Look at Wastenot's yard. Its just as messy as the landfill. Also their yard is full to the rim with bags full fo plastic to be recycled, just like the landfill their yard is a huge fire waiting to happen. Doesnt seem we have any companies who display even the slightest of an example of being ready to expand to manage our landfill. If they cant properly manage a couple acre yard, what will they do with our landfill.
If we wanna know what we done accomplish in our own independent ruling nation, we can look around. And if we wannna know what we go to look forward to, we can just look at our brother"s countries around Africa, that is where we headed. All countries run by people like us, end up the same, again look at African nations!
So many like to present this as though our problems are the fault of someone else.
Rest assured people, it is not the Jamaican or Hatian that has caused this race to the bottom of Bahamain society; nope, that honour belongs to all of us.
We are what you see, that is, a nation of lazy backward thinking nasty crooked people.

You guys seem to forget that the landfill is in ruins due to our own people running it.
We had a new landfill in 99 and all we did was run it like we run everything else.

Why look at more engines , natural gas or not, before we hear weather solar is an option that might provide the necessary power.
