The growth rate must match the inflation rate or you have a shrinking economy. Inflation is likely anywhere between 5% and 10%, that's real world inflation, not the bs reported.
How much do you think inflation is, how much does your food and clothes bill go up every year, what about other things you buy? It goes up a lot.

Until the growth rate passes inflation, no jobs will be created, and likely , that's years away.

"That official added that, to this point, the company had not come across any fuel in or around the canal but would stay vigilant as they **worked to find the source of the reports."**"

"worked to find the source of the reports"

Yes it's very important to find out who report this, better hurry and silence them!

Well yes government is a problem, but its big business that wreaks havoc on the working class.... as big if not a bigger problem than bad government.
For instance, every town in the USA that walmart goes into, it kills hundred of small businesses. Replacing them with starvation wages for all.

Same thing here, only its not walmart, its the big boys, if you can't see it your blind

Chucky says...

Growth numbers must exceed inflation or you have negative growth.
Real inflation (notice on goods you buy) is close to 10% per year, right? Food, clothes etc etc everything we buy seems to be going up by 10% a year.
So if the GDP was 8 billion last year, and we don't do 8.8 billion this year or more, it's actually negative growth!
Two quarters of negative growth is a recession, been in one here for at least 5 years now!

if you'd like to see more money moving in society, it's simple, ban big business, nothing over 50 employees and you will soon see thousands of small businesses prosper, and money start moving. Big business is too connected, and has too much money that they use to crush small business and funnel all the money in to their overloaded bank accounts where it just sits.
As an example: how much profit do you think, say the owner of a large grocery store chain with stores all over Nassau (not mentioning any names), how much do you think he spends around town on a day to day basis. No estimate to yourself how much more would make it into the market if each store was individually owned? Same in construction the big companies squash the little, same in every industry! Wanna fix it, well since nobody is willing to stop collusion , corruption , kickbacks etc, just ban big business.........LOL, I know it will never happen, but it could work. Money goes where money lies...........

if 100,000 bahamian march downtown and demand answers, they might just get some!
Otherwise it's just a waste of time listening to the verbal diarrhea from the liars in house!

Pure propaganda article. Unions attempt to shore up wages and benefits of employees and ensure they keep pace with inflation, albeit they like to make some good money while doing it. Propaganda like this, somehow manages to pit the non union wage earners against the better paid union member. The non union wage earners, likely out of jealously supports the attack on the unions & its members, the target- dragging union members wages down to the lowest common denominator- the non union wage package.
Propaganda is the tool of the ruling class, amazingly powerful and it never rests.
Challenge yourself to find real world examples of wages keeping pace with inflation; you likely won't find many. Rather than trying to drag the union member's down, why don't the people instead try to raise the bar of the non union worker? "Black Crab Syndrome" is not a black decease, it's a disease of the non thinking, propaganda believing people, of any colour, in this world!
When someone speaks, your first thought should always be: why do they say that; is it factual, do they have an interest in the outcome of their reasoning?

Why was Mr Colebrook ordered to undergo two months of counselling? Is this a new treatment where we are to repeatedly chant some "pro government" propaganda?
No such thing as an illegal protest, but there are many unconstitutional laws that prohibit rights as provided by the constitution, seems to be happening in many western countries.
Soon the thought police will be rounding up any and everyone who even thinks about the government in a questionable way.

Come on people lets be honest here, Moss didn't squander and opportunity for public service. There is not one politician that I know of that does his politics in the pursuit of public service.

So lets be honest about it. They only reason any and all of them seek and sit in office is to steal for themselves and their friends. Each and every one of them! Now some may deny this, but notice, there are no politicians sitting there stating that the guy sitting beside them is a theif, giving and evidence and paper trail, and we no the thieving is going, so if they aint saying anything , they are at least in part responsible by doing nothing, if not a participant.
Now of course we here accusations across party lines, but thats just a show they put on.
Both teams are in it for themselves, they are two factions, with different names, though of essentially the same ideology. Tell me when the last one was sent to jail? How many millions have they stole the last 10 years?
And that ideology these thieves all share, is to essentially see that the minimum food, education and healthcare makes it to the people, but just enough to keep us alive so that we can serve as modern day slaves, not quite enough education to get close to smart, not enough money so you can be free and think about what's going on, and not enough healthcare to live long and healthy.

Thisisours, I can agree with you on the facts that being poor comes at a different income level here than Bulgaria, quite obviously.
However you have not addressed the issue of these people doing something to improve their own situation. Governments can't and shouldn't raise minimum wages to the point where people can live comfortably on them.
People need to be responsible for their own future; government should stick to the basics.
Admittedly government has deliberately neglected the education system and chosen to "advance" other areas of society instead, this leaves your average person with a dismal education when coming out of public schools.
But we can't expect government to forces businesses to pay high minimum wages, for the same reason we can't expect them to educate a population to the point of being avid critical thinkers; it's simply not in the best interest of the ruling class.
Like it or not, society works in a certain way, and to survive and prosper, the only way is to take responsibility for your own life.
