Oh boy! More “public servants”! Thousands more who can answer, “Sorry, can’t help you” when you show up at their window! Yippee! This is just what we need! Maybe it will even take less than a year to get a passport now, or less than 5 years to register a deed!

Did you notice that the story makes no mention of what jobs these thousands of new “civil servants” are supposed to do? Assuming, of course, that they’d actually show up to work? Or get anything done on either side of their 3-hour lunch break?

I mean, really, what are the jobs they’re being hired to perform?

Refresh my memory: Is there anybody in the Bahamas who is not threatening to strike any day now? Why not have everybody go on strike next week and be done with it?

In the Bahamas, help is always “on the way” ... it just never seems to arrive.

Your thoughts might come across more clearly if you refrained from writing in Morse code. And all-capital letters, which is impolite and referred to on the internet as shouting. Respectfully meant ... thank you.

An automatic gratuity is not a gratuity, it is a tax. I’m a generous tipper, but why should I pay an extra 15% to some surly clerk who hands me a sack of burgers at a fast food joint?

Amazing what people will risk for a $20 frozen turkey.

Budget jargon, simplified: “You gonna remain poor. MPs and high government muckety-mucks gonna be OK. More “fact-finding” missions to Beijing, Monaco and Paris in the forecast, but ... you gonna remain poor.”
