Hubert Ingrham caused Perry Christie and the PLP to get back into power. He squeezed and suffocated the Bahamian people to the point of desperation. I'm no PLP supported, but Hubert had to go.
Brandville McCartney needs to quickly establish the DNA as a legitimate political party that has the capability of governing the country. Currently, it is not. He needs to organize and conduct a convention where he presents potential candidates and representatives for the various constituencies. There needs to be transparency as to what his intentions and plans for the Bahamas are in the form of a manifesto. He needs to explain how his ideas and plans are practical and capable of initiating change in the Bahamas. Many Bahamians such as myself are ready to consider an alternative to both the FNM and PLP. The fact that the DNA established a new record in the Bahamas for third-party votes supports this idea. But until he validates himself and his political party by doing the honorable thing, he will always be perceived as an empty barrel.
@pat242. FYI... I was speaking in reference to this particular headline; not that of the general performance of our police force. A major operation conducted in our capital which requires expensive resources, money and time should have yielded more than one illegal firearm, especially when there are more than two dozen illegal firearms on one street corner. This particular story is nothing more than a celebration of mediocrity. So until you can accurately interpret clear, coherent, written english; you shut YOUR mouth.
A major operation conducted by a large group of police officers throughout our capital only yielded one illegal firearm??? On ONE street corner in Nassau there are at least a dozen gun- wielding criminals. A major crackdown should have resulted in more than just one confiscated illegal weapon. C'mon police force! Y'all can do better!
I'm not a fan of Mr Shane Gibson nor his PLP party. But in this case he is absolutely right. This whole mess at btc and the burden of responsibility to be bared with it rest squarely on the shoulders of the FNM government. Bahamians fought and protested the sale of btc; yet the FNM government did so anyway. Now they're trying to pass the blame in the wake of residual backlash and job losses for Bahamians. FNM members need to shut-up on this matter! This is their fault!
Simply put... because they couldn't. If a contract is to be changed, then both parties involved must be in congruence. Clearly C&W weren't willing to negotiate certain changes.
Dr Hubert Minnis is an opportunist who only talks for talking sake. This whole mess at btc was initiated by his FNM government when they decided, against the people's will, to sell more than half the company. Someone please give Dr Hubert Minnis some toilette paper to whipe that diarrhea coming from his mouth.
