Time will eventually tell what Mr. Bain's motives and intentions are. I sincerely hope that he is "**indeed**" qualified to function effectively in the political arena. I'm almost inclined to applaud his position thus far, seeing that it fortifies my claim that Bahamians need to seriously consider moving away from the FNM **and** PLP.
I can only pray that he is a legitimate candidate.... if only to save what's left of our country.

Listen... I understand why the above mentioned women's rights movement would want to protest on this matter. The flippant and careless manner in which Leslie Miller conducted himself was a disgrace and embarrassment to the nation.
But maybe a lot of Bahamians should consider protesting against themselves for electing a "bush-league" government into office. Perry Christie and his organization of PLP cronies have always been known for lacking integrity, decency, and accountability. And in this case, nothing has changed. Once again an absentee Prime Minister Christie lacks the distinguishable ability to display leadership, while his party members run rouge. But considering that this has been the PLP's mode of operations for the past three decades, I'm really not surprised by Perry or Leslie Miller's action. Rather, I'm astonished by the fact that Bahamians continue to vote for these guys. I mean.... what do the Bahamian people expect when you vote for people lacking integrity??? When you vote for a "bush-league" government, you get a "bush-league" government.

Cobalt says...

You're absolutely right.
But as I constantly remind our readers... the simple truth still remains.... The Bahamian people knew exactly what they were getting into when they voted PLP. We knew that the PLP was, and is, a pathetic, off-brand, illegitimate, incompetent, inflammatory, negligent, unaccountable, selfish, leaderless, careless, hapless, clueless excuse for a government. Outside of Sir Lynden Pindling, their character has always been marred by excuses, corruption, scandal, propaganda, dishonesty, false-promises and worthlessness. Every Bahamian possessing sensible and logical cognitive abilities knew that this Christie lead party was unfit to govern the country. But what did we do? We rode the tide of emotions, rather than rely upon our critical thinking skills. And now.... everyone is paying the price for it.
Being upset with the PLP government for the state of our nation is like being upset with a dog that barks. This is their nature. This is what they do. Don't be angry with them; instead, be angry at the ignorant, asinine Bahamians that voted for them.... they're the ones to blame.
As the adage goes; "people get the government that they deserve."
And the worst component of all is... we have three more years to go.

Speak the truth.

Cobalt says...

Resign? Why? If my memory serves me correctly, the Bahamian people voted Perry Christie and the PLP into power with an unprecedented landslide victory. It's my understanding that when people vote for you, they want you. Perry Christie and his government aren't doing anything that WE the people haven't empowered them to do. As Bahamians we sit back and criticize government personnel for the state of our country, when the truth is, we're the ones to blame (simply because WE put them in power). This isn't the first time that Perry Christie has bungled the affairs of our country. Yet, the Bahamian people flocked the polling divisions and voted for him and his party in mass numbers. Now the reality and gravity of our situation has began to sink in and now we must all acknowledge the fact that our country is pretty- much doomed.
I personally don't fault Perry Christie and his government though. When the Bahamian people displayed how senseless and short- sighted they were, I think that's when Perry and his party decided that they could easily take advantage of us. My grandfather often taught me, "when you find a jackass, you ride it". So I guess that's what Perry and his party are doing.

Thank you! My sentiments exactly! If Branville McCartney and his DNA party can continue establishing competent political associates capable of representing the various constituencies, they certainly deserve an opportunity to serve as government. Not only will this bring a breath of fresh air to the Bahamas; but it would also send a clear and coherent message to the FNM and PLP who have both proven hapless, impotent, incapable, and uncaring. Bran and the DNA deserve serious consideration.
