I don’t see anything fraudulent about what Mr. Sweeting said. His ministry is simply trying to do a little good for a few vendors who lost their stalls to a fire.

Cobalt says...

@shesprunner12 There is nothing wrong with the government financially assisting small businesses. The government actually has money allocated for things like this.

Cobalt says...

You forgot to mention that some of the blame rest with “we” the Bahamian people as well.

Politicians are elected from a pool of Bahamian citizens. They are reflective of “us” the people. Politicians are incompetent, derelict, and inept because “we” the Bahamian people are incompetent, derelict, and inept. Take a moment to evaluate how the average Bahamian operates in his/her daily life. We are unreliable, we don’t respect time, we are unaccountable, we are dishonest, we are lazy, we are dysfunctional, we procrastinate, we are selfish, we expect something for nothing, we don’t respect the value of a good education, we are unfaithful, we are disorderly, we are rhetorical, we have self-destructive habits, and we are void of any true desire to bring about change. All of these traits sum up our people and likewise our government.

Cobalt says...

I swear, our political leaders are so inept it has become beyond embarrassing. They have no foresight or insight on how to effectively deal with violence and crime.

Instead of hiring a degenerative mental patient like Rodney Moncur as a crime consultant, all the government actually had to do was open a dialogue with school administrators, social workers, police officers and teachers. Furthermore it would have cost the government no extra expense seeing that these individuals were already employed by the government. These three disciplines can offer accurate insight as it relates to crime and where the problem is germinating from. Teachers and social workers (excluding parents) are the first to encounter criminal and violent behavior because they encounter these individuals at a young age. They can tell you exactly which individuals are likely to end up in prison or dead based upon psychological and behavioral evaluations. Over 80% of men currently locked away in prison first started their violent streak within the public school system. And if we had listened to teachers back then we would have seen the problem coming. The government needs to collaborate with the necessary parties to effectively address this problem once and for all. Bandaids don’t fix bullet holes. And another “airbag” session by Glenys Hanna Martin isn’t going to fix it either.

More lip service???? Omg….. we are soooo exhausted of hearing the same old tired speeches from these same old, worthless politicians. Blah blah blah. Nothing but hot fart. And at the end of the day nothing effective is ever accomplished.

As I’ve stated before, none of these politicians have the will nor the brains to effectively address the situation. Students who are repeat offenders for violence in the public school system should be placed in the Boys & Girls Industrial School. They should lose their liberties and be subjected to acts of strict discipline. The government needs to properly address this crisis (not with words, but with action) and reestablish the Boys & Girls Industrial school. Students who engage in acts of violence are giving us a snapshot into their future. They are the criminals of tomorrow! All of the arm robbers and murderers of today were once violent, problematic, students of yesterday! And they were allowed to grow and fester through our society! The government needs to nip this problem in the bud by first drafting legislation that holds parents accountable for their children's behavior. Secondly, they need to confine violent students to detention and reform facilities. Take away their freedoms and remove these problematic students from the general populace so that other students can attain a worthwhile education!

Mr. Pintard needs to understand that the FNM has no credibility among the Bahamian people. Their popularity is at an all time low. The mere sight of Duane Sands and Hubert Minnis is enough to turn everyone away (much less hear their voices). And the sooner these two leave the FNM party, the better.

Has Michael Pintard forgotten that 8 months ago the FNM abdicated and abandoned their post leaving our country destitute and in shambles??? The entire reason that the PLP is currently in office is because the FNM (under Hubert Minnis) deserted us. There is no problem that currently exist that didn’t exist under the FNM government. And the FNM had no solutions then either. So why persist with the politically laced jargon regarding taxes, COVID19 and crime??? The truth is, neither the FNM nor the PLP has the will to do what needs to be done to properly address these issues. All they both do is talk talk talk. And then talk some more. And in the meantime, innocent people suffer. This long, drawn-out song and dance is beyond nauseating.

The only hope the FNM has right now is to wait until Brave Davis aggravates the Bahamian people enough to vote against him. Then the FNM would win the government by default just like he did.

Absolutely! And that is a legitimate complaint that I have as well. If these individuals did died of some natural or self inflicted cause, then that needs to be made public. Our tourism industry as well as Sandals Resort needs vindication. If Sandals or the Bahamas was responsible for their deaths I’m sure that the international media wound have wasted no time castigating us. But now that the autopsy may be suggesting otherwise, investigators now seem tight-lipped on the matter. This is wrong and unfair. This very same thing took place a few years ago in the Dominican Republic. American tourists died at a resort and the resort was criticized only to find that the deaths were related to natural causes.

Cobalt says...

Well the US is actually conducting its own unilateral investigation. It’s a standard practice set forth by the State Department whenever an American citizen dies abroad. The United States is well aware that the Bahamas is a banana republic. They have no confidence in our people or our government for that matter. America doesn’t trust us enough to conduct a thorough investigation. They won’t even send an ambassador to the Bahamas. It’s a shameful gesture on a diplomatic level meant to remind us that international relations between our countries aren’t where they need to be.

Cobalt says...

The Bahamas isn’t a real place. It’s a cheap sitcom that never made it to the airwaves. Nothing but clowns and jokers. I was just recently explaining to one of my colleagues visiting from the U.S. that Rodney Moncur has actually been hired by our government. Needless to say he hasn’t stopped laughing yet. But as a Bahamian, I don’t find it funny at all. It’s actually quite embarrassing.

On Moncur: My critics are not sanctified
