Absolutely! And that is a legitimate complaint that I have as well. If these individuals did died of some natural or self inflicted cause, then that needs to be made public. Our tourism industry as well as Sandals Resort needs vindication. If Sandals or the Bahamas was responsible for their deaths I’m sure that the international media wound have wasted no time castigating us. But now that the autopsy may be suggesting otherwise, investigators now seem tight-lipped on the matter. This is wrong and unfair. This very same thing took place a few years ago in the Dominican Republic. American tourists died at a resort and the resort was criticized only to find that the deaths were related to natural causes.
Well the US is actually conducting its own unilateral investigation. It’s a standard practice set forth by the State Department whenever an American citizen dies abroad. The United States is well aware that the Bahamas is a banana republic. They have no confidence in our people or our government for that matter. America doesn’t trust us enough to conduct a thorough investigation. They won’t even send an ambassador to the Bahamas. It’s a shameful gesture on a diplomatic level meant to remind us that international relations between our countries aren’t where they need to be.
The Bahamas isn’t a real place. It’s a cheap sitcom that never made it to the airwaves. Nothing but clowns and jokers. I was just recently explaining to one of my colleagues visiting from the U.S. that Rodney Moncur has actually been hired by our government. Needless to say he hasn’t stopped laughing yet. But as a Bahamian, I don’t find it funny at all. It’s actually quite embarrassing.
Well…. spare the rod, spoil the child. Today’s youth are being raised to think that there are no consequences for unacceptable behavior (thus the high crime rate). The school system has become a farming ground for future criminal behavior. Parents don’t properly raise nor discipline their children; then they send their rude, disgusting children to school to wreak havoc while impeding the educational growth of others. And to make matters worst, these very same parents have the audacity to confront school administrators and teachers when disciplinary measures are carried out. It’s time for the Ministry of Education to set the bar as it relates to student behavior. Just imagine; students not interested in education simultaneously preventing others from learning. It’s time for the Ministry of Education to rid the school system of this cancer. If students and parents are unwilling to adhere to the rules and Code of Conduct set forth by the school, then they should be expelled. The government need to reevaluate and reinitiate the Boys/Girls Industrial School. Put these unruly children in boot camp. Nip the problem in the bud. These proactive measures will assist in reducing the number of future criminal behavior.
Well…. once again the Bahamas has come face to face with how backwards and bush-league our country really is. Has anyone ever hear of OSHA???
Occupational safety and health regulations are all missing in this country. Not to mention qualified personnel to enforce them. How many businesses do we see with sprinkler systems and carbon monoxide detectors?
Shanendon Cartwright is without a doubt a very good man. He actually attended SAC with my oldest brother. And even then it wasn’t hard to see that he was a man destined for leadership. He was always an astute, caring individual. But unfortunately for him and other members within the FNM, Hubert Minnis has placed them in a precarious and awful predicament. The mere sight of Hubert Minnis in the HOA makes even me want to vote for Brave Davis and Glenys Hanna Martin (and I’ve been an FNM supporter since the days of Kendal Issacs).
When it comes to VAT and poverty, the FNM has no tongue to talk. Remember, it was Hubert Minnis and the FNM who increased VAT shortly after coming to office. And this was after stating in their campaign promise that this was “The People’s Time”. It’s really discouraging to see what the FNM has resigned to under Dr. Minnis. Loretta Butler and others tried to sound the alarm years ago. However their tactics were chaotic, disorderly and lacked decorum and structure leaving many to question their motives. I understand Mr. Cartwright’s position in the above written headlines, but Hubert Minnis has debunked any possible argument or advocacy related to the poor, leaving the FNM hollow and without merit on this particular matter.
Unfortunately for Mr. Shanendon Cartwright, the FNM really has no credibility regarding the issue of taxes & poverty. And that’s mainly because of Hubert Minnis. Let’s face it, the PLP won the election by default. They really didn’t even need to campaign. The cruel, heartless, inconsiderate and uncaring way Dr. Minnis treated Bahamians during the pandemic was astounding. Not to mention he made history by not completing his 5 years in office. It will be a very long time before citizens ever trust the FNM again. I am no fan of Ms. Hanna Martin, but she is right when she claimed that “the struggles of the poor is not a new phenomenon”. And those struggles actually appeared to be worst under the FNM.
Good storyline. However, the sad and unabated truth is that she probably won’t return back to the Bahamas. We are witnessing the first step of the Brain-Drain epidemic gripping the Bahamas.
