Until the US cancels all drilling and production in the Gulf of Mexico, Americans should mind their own business or concede that if the regulations are followed, offshore oil drilling is safe. Six holes have already been drilled in the Bahamas with no hysteria.
Dear Michael, There are 3 problems with your thesis; 1. Parliament passed the Petroleum Act of 2016 explicitly defining the conditions for exploration in the Bahamas.. 2. BPC and the government are parties to a signed agreement .on the basis of the 2016 Act. To arbitrarily invalidate this contract would make the Bahamas a NO GO place for any future foreign investment in this country. 3,In accordance with the Act, BPC cannot pump oil unless it has the express agreement of the government. Michael please read the Act.
Well said Socrates. This PhD geophysicist is very tired of the threats of climate change/global catastrophe coming from people who are trying very hard to get our attention by frightening us and thereby holding onto their employment. FYI this month is the coldest I have experienced in the last 35 years. Is that climate change?
The Canadian government has seen fit to seriously discourage Canadians coming to Bahamas. Returning to Canada,.one has to have a negative covid pcr test result 72 hours before take-off. In addition one has to endure a 14 day quarantine after landing in Canada as well! For some reason, Canada does not appear to appreciate the use of rapid antigen testing.
Dear Kathy, FYI your country drills 100's of wells in the Gulf of Mexico every year. Renewable energy sources are not reliable and not economic .You have obviously not watched the documentary "Planet of the Humans" It may give you another perspective about renewables and in particular biomass as a most disgusting source of energy for the Europeans and the USA . In the meantime please help us find an alternative solution to our $9.5 billion Bahamas debt problem.
