Maybe the fact that beer prices increased last year to well over $40 a case has something to do with it. When you tax the stuff too much people will find other things to drink.
Also . . . I like the scientific study that was done to determine the amount of illegal product in the country. 800 eyes and 800 ears can't be wrong
So what are the cruise ships supposed to do? Should they offer tours to their passengers, but tell the passenger that the cruise ship cannot tell them
1 - Where they are going 2- How much it will cost 3- Whether it will be a good tour or not
The cruise ships make agreements with onshore tour operators so that they can feel confident in what the product is that the tourists will receive and know what to sell it for.
If you have a good product to sell you can always make a deal with the cruise ships
The problem with not defining a casual, part time, or "on call" worker is the benefit calculations.
If a casual worker works 2 shifts per month for a year (ie. 24 days) how many vacation days does he/she get? The Law states that you are entitled to 10 days after a year. So I work 24 days and get 10 paid vacation days?
What about redundancy pay? If its two weeks per year is that 40 hours per week? Is that the average weekly earnings?
The Government needs to define these employee categories.
How does running a coin laundry qualify anyone to make decisions on how to collect property taxes, let alone make him a "leading businessman" Is there really a list of the "leading businessmen" or is everyone included?
There is an easy solution - Only 10% of the 20% charged by hotels in Nassau goes to the government the other half is charged by the Hotel operators (Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board etc). Why doesn't the Hotel association do away with the part that they charge (i.e. 10%).
You can not complain about an increase in "taxes" when you have imposed part of the increase on yourself.
Maybe . . . the reason behind the fall . . . might just be that 6 years ago it took 50 pence (1/2 Pound) to buy a US$ and now it costs 60.4 pence. So the cost to a UK visitor to stay in the Bahamas has gone up 21%
