***“My statistics department informed me yesterday that occupancy levels are now averaging around 60 per cent nationally; that’s very good. We’re up 4 per cent,” he said. “We’re also seeing that room revenue is up another 4 per cent. That’s significant because that means that we are seeing growth in the areas that are important, because you can have the visitors but you have to have the spend. That’s going to be very good for us so we have to continue it.”***
Well, if your occupancy is up 4% rooms revenue would go up 4% if your rate stayed the same. To say rooms revenue went up "another 4%" does not make sense. Does this guy know anything about hotels? After reading the other quotes the answer must be - I think not
They should start at BEC and fire everyone who has an electric bill which is past 30 days outstanding. Start at the top and work down to the bottom. Then re-orangise the entire company. Once they fire the staff with delinquent accounts there will most likely only be 4 employees left so it may be a bit of a tough go for a while but it will help with getting things straight
The problems were there long before Miller arrived. The whole corporation needs to be streamlined from top to bottom. $75 a week extra because you work a shift? You gotta be kidding. You need to get rid of all of this and make sure that people pay theirs bills. You can not run a company like this when you are owed so much money .
The reason the VAT will have to increase is that the government, as with all other taxes, will only collect 40-50% of what is due (if that). So you need a tax of at least 15% just to collect the 7.5%
