For the government of the Bahamas to express "profound gratitude" to the entity i.e. CCA that created this mess in the first place is truly repugnant. Had CCA fulfilled their contractual obligations in the first place the resort would have been opened. It amazing that the AG and the government is glazing over that plane fact. The AG should resign.

The government is clearly out of their depth here. They obviously don't understand what's really going on here. CCA has yet to show they are able to complete the project. They have failed already on several occasions

I am no fan of Izmirlian but fair is fair. CCA was the sole cause of the delay to the project. Had they completed the project on time as they were contractually obligated to do all of the mess would have been avoided. Now Izmirlian is faced with possibly loosing his investment and the government is complicit in ensuring it happens. It all seems like some type of conspiracy. Perhaps the government and the Chinese wanted Izmirlian out and they used the mechanism of CCA substantially delaying the project to do so.

Unfortunately you are so right Banker!! Christie and his crew are so out of their league with this issue. For the best interest of the country they must set hubris aside and let a competent court deal with this matter!!

Its amazing the amount of ignorance and misinformation out there about this matter. Unfortunately people such as this person who only knows half truths and exaggerations uses a forum such as this to spread misinformation. This only exasperates the situation. Please only stick to information you know is true and not hearsay!!!
Bottom line this problem was created by CCA and it make little sense to try make CCA part of the solution.

"CCA Bahamas, Ltd. remains committed to working with the Bahamian government to arrive at a viable plan that results in the expedited opening of this landmark project." The spokesperson from CCA says. What a farce!!
If CCA was truly committed the project would have been completed months ago. Baha Mar would be open. CCA is either unwilling or unable to complete the project. That much crystal clear.
I can't believe the PM is siding with CCA and the Chinese in this matter. Let the developer complete the project. They are the only ones who are committed. They have put their money where their mouth is!!

Surely BEC has means of protecting cables from overload so that when overloads do happen it does not result in the whole island going down. And oil dripping into the cable trench?? You kidding me? Why is oil dripping into live cable trenches in the first place? What kind of maintenance practices do they have in place. But then again what can we expect from a bunch of quazi professionals?

These people who "run" BEC starting from the GM down to senior level manager levels need to be replaced ASAP!!!

The problem with BEC is quite simple to describe. Incompetence. Incompetence from the GM down to lowest levels in the organization. When a healthy dose of corruption and lack of productivity is added to the mix the result is BEC in its current state. The powers that be needs to clean house starting with the GM and the executive team and those in charge of engineering and planning. These people need to be replaced by competent individuals which unfortunately do not reside in the Bahamas. Its amazing that government after government would entrust such a critical resource as the nations power infrastructure to such levels of incompetence. Until major changes are made the problem will only get worst.

The only thing that the executive team at BEC is really good at is making excuses. I can't wait to see what excuse they will use to explain this catastrophic failure. I must admit they are quite creative. I must give them that!!!!
