"A former chief clerk at the ministry doctored overtime records so a friend could get a pay increase was ordered to serve three months in prison for her crime." These minimal sentences from the bewigged group are a mere slap on the wrist. It is always amazing to notice the difference in fines/prison time meted out to Bahamian and Haitian bothers and sisters as opposed to foreigners from, say the U.S., Canada, or Europe.
The Nation has an alarming number of light-fingered civil servants. The true percentage would probably be rather shocking. Wonder if they feel they are given a nod from those in Cabinets?
The times they are a changing! There needs to be consideration for the Bahamian public.
The other thing is, if they are going to out-source the beach area, why don't they just get on with it or are they still waiting for the highest bribe to come in from the bidders?
Hope this is not typical all talk no action......... If a few ignorant vendors complain, will they not complain more if there is NO conch? Trust this Minister realizes the conch does not understand votes!
Does not make it right. Perhaps it is one of the systems that should be changed! On a bright note, at least The Paper has found a more flattering picture of the unionist.
As for WTO, why else would this organization be headquartered in the belly of the very beast that is all about world hegemony and imposes tariffs and sanctions on any and all who do not bend to its will?
"The pay raise for educators was featured in a proposed industrial agreement presented to Mr Lloyd seven months ago on June 20, 2018."
Why was this not dealt with during the summer so as not to affect the children's education? That might have been the SMART thing to do or did Government, teachers and unionists not wish to disturb their vacations?
