Too late! Haitian descendants includes, the first black member of parliament, a governor general, several cabinet ministers, speaker of the house and also several senators. Those were only first generations. I will not venture into third and forth generation descendants. Blacks at one point were not allowed and today they dominate the legislative branch.
The negative comments here go hand in hand with the state of the mindset of our country. Crime and a lack of care for our fellowman are the same symptoms from one common disease. I could remember a time when equally poor people would share the little they had with each other. My mother would cook a big pot of corn beef and white rice to share with others. It didn't make any sense to me because my logic was that if you are so broke that you have to eat corn beef and rice, why would you buy extra cans to cook so that you can gave to others. My mother was not even religious but she lived, when I was hungry you feed me.
Concessions have been given a bad name. The government has zero income coming from Ginn and there are zero jobs. If an investor comes in and receive concessions resulting in the government receiving $1 and 500 Bahamians working. The latter is better than the former. 500 persons with jobs could now pay National Insurance, taxes and don't have to rely on a Social Service cheque. That's a net gain folks.
I got out of Nassau because I forecast the existing mayhem several years ago. Nassau don't have a crime problem, it has an overcrowding problem. You don't place 275,000 people in an 80 sq miles area and don't expect chaos. Let me correct that, you don't put 225,000 people in a 40 sq mile area (Bain Town to Fox Hill) and don't expect absolute chaos.
They need an ankle bracelets that send 10,000 kilowatts of power through these scums once they exit a designated area. Our laws don't keep up with what is needed to put a dent in crime. If a person murders someone, charge them with murder and gun possession. Charge and convict them on the gun possession and they have all the time in the world to wait in jail until there murder trial comes up. That will eliminate the need to give bail.
I am right! If BEC operated on a cash basis they would never would have been label as profitable. One hundred and two million in account receivable mainly owed by the government in 2002 and deem uncollectible in subsequent years wipe out the farce of a profitable BEC. The Government never paid BEC but those bills showed up on the income statement as revenue thus an inflated net income.
SP and sheeprunner lets be reasonable. BPL problems would be insurmountable for any top executive. A company that hasn't made a profit in over twenty years, constant government interference, an elite list of persons that can't be disconnected, a powerful union, culture of theft and a board that practices wholesale cronyism. SP you think she deserve peanuts because in one year of employment she couldn't change BPL. In addition, she is a women and a Jamaican heading a Bahamian company and last but not least she is black. If she was male, British and white........lol.
Her compensation is according to industry guidelines. You don't attract persons with her expertise and pay them peanuts. The analogy with politician was unfortunate due to the fact that most politicians are woefully unqualified to ran a petty shop.
