Proof of Bahamian citizenship is actually a passport. If you don't have a passport then you need your birth certificate and also your parents birth certificate. If your mother is single then all you need is her birth certificate but if she is married then you need the fathers(if he is a foreigner then it gets a bit more complicated).A large number of Bahamian(60 %) will have some problem proofing that they are in fact Bahamian.
I just had a meeting today with a fairly wealthy businessman and he laments the fact that he ever consider doing business here. He said that the red tape and immigration policy is maddening.Cuba came up in our conversation and he said that once the embargo is lifted the Bahamas will experience a serious drop off in investments. He indicated there are only a limited amount of investment dollars to go around and the bulk of it will head towards Cuba.
Maybe the Supreme Court can get Mother Nature to abide by its ruling. If the CDC(Center for disease Control) would stop been politically correct it would be running ads about the dangers of the homosexual lifestyle. On the US government AIDS website it says that, although men who have sex with men make up 4% of the male population they account for 78% of the new HIV cases.
Fred is probably one of the better political tactician in the PLP. He is a student of politics. When he was giving a choice of Ministries he chose Foreign affairs and Immigration because he knew the passion that Immigration ignites in the average Bahamian and the opportunity to endear himself to the populace. The other aspiring PMs (Brave, Fritzgerald ) choose the Ministries that have the potential to influence the delegates through the awarding of contracts. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Fred Mitchell Immigration tour throughout the Family islands was not a co-incidence. Him speaking to the PM every morning as indicated is also calculated(He knows he is smarter than Christie but have to pucker up his lips and do what he has to do). Christie is the key, whoever Christie anoints will lead the party into the next election although I think he will anoint himself.
I don't see what the big deal is. He could use the same plane tickets and go to Atlantis. The room rates at Bahamar are the same as Atlantis. I recommend the Corner Hotel for a true indigenous Bahamian wedding.
Guilty or innocent, if you bad mouth a police officer they will beat you. I am older than most officers but whenever I am approach by a police I become very passive so that I could avoid been thump. Proverbs said, a soft answer turn away strife.
It's amazing how politics creeps its ugly head in what is regarded as simple logic. When an island administrator acts as a magistrate he is afforded all the privileges as though he is a judge. Mr. Gray overstep his authority. The positive side is Mr. Newbold job is secure. If he is fired, he can claim unfair dismissal which will give the courts the legal authority to look at the matter without the AG approval.
Bahamians are so easily deceive. The grime look on Perry's face, him talking about the reputation of the Bahamas and people having to be laid off are all a prelude to governments intervention. The Bahamian people will now have to foot the bill to finish Bahamar.
