Slums of Haiti has a murder rate 3 times less than ours. Our problem is our young men embracing this gangster rap crap. I visit my old neighborhood and every young men now have locks, saggy pants and tattoos all over their bodies. We have imported the worst of American culture. These young men are living what they listen to. The lyrics of the songs they listen to speak only about violence. As a man thinketh so is he.

The problem is too much guns. Truth be told, on any given day you come across individuals you feel the urge to kill. Someone ran me off the road and then give me the finger is enough for me to "let off a couple of shots". The difference is that I don't have a gun. A way to keep murderers off the street is to charge them with a lesser crime initially and then while they are serving time you can build your case for murder. While they are serving ten years for gun possession, they will also be waiting for their murder case to come up making bail a mute point.

I was driving with one of my workers to pick-up a vehicle. He pointed out to me a track road where he was beaten by the police with a pvc pipe. He said another police car showed up after his agony started. He said the sarge in anger said, if you ga beat him you need to take him further in the back of the pine forest so no one can hear you.We get a call about screaming. We know and condone it as a people.

We are a society that have become desensitize to violence of any kind. All the police have to say "known to police" and what ever minuscule concern we would have had vanishes away. We don't care if the authorities beat our own so how do you expect the Bahamian populace to be concern for some girl who will never be embrace as a Bahamian even when she gets citizenship. I examine myself and sadly I am zombi-ish to the violence around me. Pause - Well I will quickly be awaken if they beat me.

I know several young men who were impacted by Myles Munroe. One who came from the ghetto(school at LW Young) and now has a PHD in Physics. Another who went to Harvard. Yet another who design vehicles for Ford after obtaining his engineering qualification.I could go on to mention at least 20 others but the worldly accolades fail in comparison to the fact that at least 90% have great families. That's the true impact of Myles Munroe.

The government should have been out of the utility business a long time ago.The government should not be doing what the private sector could do more efficiently. BEC bill is 70% more even-though my house in Freeport is 3 times larger than the one in Nassau. 5 Million in O/T is the reason why.

Voodoo is what every negro great, great, great grand parents practice. Its amazing how the negro was taught to hate anything black. There is Buddhism. Hinduism, Islam but we were taught to have a special hatred by our slave masters for what our ancestors practice. I don't condone voodoo but I wonder why I detest it more than any other religion when at the end of the day they are all false.

SP you may be on to something. I did notice a Haitian at Super Value purchasing cream minus the custom duty. Guess what, when they go to Miami, they do not pay the departure tax or the airport fee. There are no Haitian mason, carpenters or maid. They come here and do absolutely nothing except to suck the Bahamian people. I could recall when Yellow Elder Gardens and Elizabeth Estate was first built. There were no Haitians there and those areas disintegrated into ghettos. You mentioned education, minus the private schools, the family island and yes Haitian kids, the average is a "Z". We are our own worst enemy.
