anytime govt holds back information or conducts activities behind closed doors, i always assume there is something nefarious at foot and usually it turns out true. if you cant conduct business in the light of day then you are involved i shady business... am i wrong?

Mr Hutton said that “by law any property deemed to be damaged more than 25 percent” cannot be rebuilt, and a new structure is required. I had not heard this before. is this accurate?

Why is information kept so close? I note she mentions flood zone maps - where are these and why can't the general public have access to it? Seems like a good idea for a young couple buying their first piece of land to build a home, or buying a home already built - should they not be allowed to see this map so they know if they are in a flood zone? getting information out of the gubmint is well... farcical at best. And maybe the archaic MoW might put out a dumbed down version of the code with say 20 or 50 bullet points so the average bahamian can know what to look for when the have hired a contractor. most don't know that 1 nail in the hurricane clip aint enough.

$350,000 biannually? that's a hefty bill. i wonder if teh savings will make into the consumer prices? sure would be nice of Mr. Roberts. somehow i kind of doubt it. I always wondered how much extra i was paying at the cashier as a result of the zealous use of packing acumen.

Do any of the people on the commission actually know how to write? is that the hold up? or they just want to continue suckling from the public purse for the free cash?

Can he tell us why it is supposed to be so secret? National security i guess? cough cough

who cares. why do we live in a country that feels that this man is a god. This was a report paid for by the people of the Bahamas, for the benefit of citizens of the bahamas, I am such a silly person for thinking that we should be able to read it. I completely forgot that this country is run with hubris and noncooperation. Second point - if as is implied, the general population isn't allowed to be privy to such things until every member of parliament has had taken the time to read it, then dogonit, the peopledem would never get to see it. we'd be old and grey before all 40 MPS got around to it. there must be a time dilation within Parliament as time seems to have a different substance than we have on the outside. it must be much more viscous.

only 1 inspector around to get your house turned on... every house has to get inspected before you get a meter back and set up a new account. I hear only a couple people got electricity in their home on GTC... but hey there is no rush, nothing is waiting to happen and waiting on electricity to do so.
