there is no building code for 220mph. i know first hand. and there is no holding up to 220mph unless you are in a cave or an exceptionally well built house. But you know what the real issue is ---.... ---- there is absolutely no way to address a situation where the insurance company doesn't show up for 6 weeks and blame the policy holder for not preventing water damage. Now that is absolutely unconscionable. I am not making this up - i have personally seen an adjuster show up 6 weeks later and say oh! well the hurricane is covered but all this later water damage and mold is not. good luck.
Perhaps the Bahamas Gubmint, should consider amending the Insurance Act to stipulate a time frame within which insurers must issue claims payments. if they can't process the claim within say 60 days, then the full amount of the insured is automatically payable. This is BS.
And why couldn't they get on the island for 2 weeks? Is the absolutely dismal organisational skills and disaster response of the Bahamian leaders partly at fault? Is the stupid idea to shut down all airline services and freight boats another possible fault? how about the fact that NEMA was too busy confiscating and stockpiling to actually do any real relief or rebuilding work. What exactly does NEMA do anyway? The new MH airport is still functioning a bare minimum, with hardly any real cleanup. the Shipping port was finally showing some minimal organization yesterday. Get to work people stop oogling
34 days and "partly restored"... i am astounded. 34 days and they only just get the test results back. Good lord lets hope they aren't needed for any life threatening diseases.
