Ha! a non-profit I am involved with has maintained a bank account since it was started in the early 1970s. Since 2019 the NPO has not received a bank statement and cannot get online banking set up. The NPO has a very hard time knowing how much funds are actually in the account at any given time. it is a travesty and the Central Bank and The Compliance Commissoin are probably directly responsible for the loss of positive contributions of civil society to the growth and well being of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas
I wish I lived in this utopian world that the bankers are in. It is plain nigh to impossible for a NPO to get a bank account set up in this country. many are now just in peoples names for simplicity but this creates its own set of problems for transparency and accountability in the sector.
not the first time for any of these activities but the first time it is in the public domain to see how much everything is screwed up in this country. So the law that you can't travel with more than $10k without declaring it was repealed but no one knew about it? What an absolute s#!%eshow the bahamas is being revealed as. All that BS and corruption that was allowed to happen over hte past 49 years is all coming home to roost and if you don't like go complain to your grandaddy because he enabled it all to happen.
49 years of bad decisions all coming home to roost including that $12,000,0000 govt debt which equates to $60,000 per registered voter. Did you vote in favour of being in $60,000 debt? I certainly did not.
So why are they striking? what a load of nonsense. For the minister to say he will not inform the public of the reason that the entire country was affected is callous and completely disregards his fiduciary responsibility as minister to keep the public and the tax payers informed, especially when it directly affects almost all of us. this govt is a fish out of water worse than the last one. or are the chickens coming home to roost after all the horrendously bad decisions made over the countries "glorious" 49 years. jokes for days
Well, I guess they didn't hear about the Nygard saga then? I'm fairly sure one cannot unilaterally change a written and recorded easement without implication. My personal thoughts on these 'club's is not rosy. I personally would never buy into a place that is literally controlled by one person and subject to the whims and emotions of that one person. What if you beat him/her at golf and they get pissed and block you out of the 'amenities' you paid for. If it were me, I would happily get involved in a community with a decent functional committee of home owners who set the rules for the benefit of all. I would stay well away from these kinds of joints where one eccentric controls whether you can play tennis that day or not. even those with money can be sheep sometimes.
