2017 to 2024. This is an excellent example of why the bahamas economy is total BS. Why would you want to lend money in this country if it will take over 7 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to recoup less than half of the money you lent out. I don't have a lot of cash living (essentially pay check to pay check to cover my exorbitant health insurance (roughly twice my house mortgage payment) and other bills) but if it I did I would be loathe to lend it out to anyone knowing there is high probability that I would never get it back. Hence the economy of the Bahamas quagmires into irrelevance despite trying to add cash to it through medical marijuana which train left the station years ago.
WOW! cronyism at its finest. We all knew the man in the top seat is well versed in the back room protocols. the bahamian people made their choice in 2021 and now they get to sleep in that bed of corruption. I hope they enjoy the future they set up for us. There is no such thing as a free lunch and we all know the bills need to be paid. Think about it, They just lowered the electricity rates (temporarily) to ensure they get re-elected but if they don't the next admin will have to deal with putting the rates back up to pay for the massive shortfalls of money to buy fuel and pay wages and keep the power flowing. you make the bed and you sleep in it.
The black market will never go away this way. but good job for trying. Simply allow people to have 2 plants in their back yard and then prohibit sale completely just like Switzerland did.
Countries that have legalized recreational use of cannabis are Canada, Georgia, Germany, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, and Uruguay, plus 24 states, 3 territories, and the District of Columbia in the United States and the Australian Capital Territory in Australia. Commercial sale of recreational cannabis is legalized nationwide in three countries (Canada, Thailand, and Uruguay) and in all subnational U.S. jurisdictions that have legalized possession except Virginia and Washington, D.C. A policy of limited enforcement has also been adopted in many countries, in particular the Netherlands where the sale of cannabis is tolerated at licensed coffeeshops.[7] check the wiki.
Albania, Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malawi, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Let us stop putting young men and women in jail for a little bit of plant. grow up bahamas. If you can gamble, drink alcohol, take pharmaceuticals, stand in parliament...
How come I cannot find this report anywhere online? The BNSI webpage is a joke that hasn't ever been updated since it was launched. This is more the silo mentality of the Bahamas govt'.
The simple fact of the matter is that when govt talks PPP it blatantly and loudly admits the the govt has failed miserably despite confiscating 25% of the entire economy in the name of taxes. If the $3,300,000,000 that the govt earned in 2023 is not enough to build and maintain the infrastructure of the Bahamas then the govt is clearly an abject failure. if $3,300,000,000 is not enough to pay all the salaries of civil servants and maintain the roads and airports, then the govt is a terrible waste of time. both parties are equally and entirely culpable. A spade is a spade no?
