Dawes says...

Would be a good idea for you to set up a retail company and not charge those excessive prices. You would become the go to retail store and put all the others out of business. Why not show them how its done!!!

You are correct. In the first year it is a nominal fee. But the next year you then pay 0.75% (assuming sales below $5 million) for the year just gone and then 0.75% for the year to come. So in effect 2 years in one go

They do need to rezone areas, however they also need to work out proper transport links, schools etc etc. If they add an extra 30,000 people out east there will be gridlock, same with out west or anywhere. Unless they fix the roads first. Of course we broke so that ain't happening.

Only those connected get refunds. The rest can wait until they have got them selves into a position that their new tax obligation is more then the refund. If that is 10 years then so be it

Dawes says...

Another policy from Government where they get the private sector to do the job the Government should do. All along Government increase their fees and do nothing to reduce their expenditures.

Dawes says...

When you have changed what Business license is made up of there will be an increase. Many things not included before now have business license, he of course will say no new taxes but by changing how the current taxes are done you have really brought in new taxes. In addition you have hit companies with making them pay on revenue they have not earned in 2024 as the fee is now on the year in question and not the year before. Of course there will be an increase in fees this way. the better test will be to see what happens in the year after that.

Dawes says...

If she didn't hit anyone with her car there are cameras all over the place and some one would have pictures. Lots of people were around. See works both ways.

Dawes says...

Not always true. It all depends on what you do with the difference in price. If you spend it then yes that maybe the case. If invested maybe not. In addition renting you are not responsible for maintenance, real property and mortgage interest. Many people will buy a house for say $1 million (easy for figures) and pay it over 25 years at 6% with a 10% down payment and not realize they have actually paid almost $1.8-9 million by the end, so that is the price of the house. If you can't sell it for more then that you have lost money

Dawes says...

There are companies that for a most part don't interact with Bahamians. only the banks and larger hotels. They already have to pay their taxes on the profits they make in their home country so this has no effect on them that way. What it may do is stop this country being used to set up holding companies for tax purposes which will affect jobs etc. but that remains to be seen. And as mentioned if it works they will slowly reduce that $800 million level until all companies are in it.

Dawes says...

Maybe it would have been best to wait until after the US election to say this. This will not be happening under a Republican Government, whether it is a good idea or not.
