Dawes says...

Don't question the Ministers. Remember if you build it they will come.

Dawes says...

Chances are someone from the security commission went to get a loan from them and then realized. And i think you are right on your other point they should keep all files for 7 years. If destroyed they should have it electronically.

Dawes says...

I think some of the comments are missing what the MP said. He did not say we should not recognize Palestine. He said that as our largest trading partner has not we should at least have had a discussion on whether we should recognize them. AS it was someone made a decision and decided that's it, after no discussion in Parliament. But hey i forget we are never meant to question the government they are always right

Dawes says...

See stop questioning them. They have our best interests at heart. And for our best interest them being able to go to the US for medical care is vitally important. That way they can come back and tell us more about what we will have.

Dawes says...

Just do like the politicians do and go to the US for medical care, of course you would have to pay for it, but you are already doing that for them

Is an extra 2-6 % of interest worth the extra jobs. At least if it is Built by Bahamians then most of that money will initially be spent here. If paid to the Chinese it will be gone. But at the same time maybe the Chinese will not have to obey the minimum wage rule so the $290 million will be $400 million with non Chinese workers. All this can be known if Government was willing to allow us. But they won't so people just need to accept the $290 million loan at 2% for 20 years and the Chinese workers to build it. Stop questioning Government and just marvel at their brilliance.

Dawes says...

Finally you get it. Ministers always know best and us mere Bahamians must learn not to question them

Dawes says...

No point in going to the town hall. Government has made a decision and all EIA and other necessary approvals will say it is OK. Fact is a new hospital needs to be built, if this area, which i always thought was the old well areas and therefore prone to flooding, is the best then so be it. But Government should really show the reasons why other areas are not good and why PMH is not realistic. On PMH i know the land is scarce, but they could get a lot of land if they knocked down Collins house (yes a historic building but it is turning to ruin so of no use), build a multistorey car park on its location and then use the land used as a car park now for a new hospital. But all they are doing now is saying this is for here, like it or lump it.

This is a loan. They are not paying for it. At 2% interest over 20 years if compounded will mean it will cost around $432 million at the end. I am not saying that the 2% is a bad rate, just they should not be implying that the Chinese are paying for it, when it will be us. Of course the government of today fully knows they will most likely not be around when it comes time to pay, so they don't care.
