I highly doubt that these eggs are produced with 100% Bahamian Labour. But that aside the country has to decide if it wants food security or not. If it does then things will cost more as we will never get the economies of scale. If we don't then these things are silly.
Government will just make it seem that its the businesses taking from Bahamians, and enough will believe them and thats all they care about. This is all Government playing politics and using the business to pay for it. Business has to make a profit (something Government will never understand) and will therefore pass it on.
Please don't complain about having to pay taxes. As that is how these increase are being paid. If this was private they would have gone out of business a long time ago or reevaluated routes, and number of persons employed and at what rat.
This year it seemed to be much worse then normal. With the amount of road building, roofs being done and general giveaways. Will only get worse. Politicians won't change it unless it benefits them
In a democracy the person who gets the most votes wins. The people voted no to numbers and yet this was overruled. We do not live in a democracy so why all the hand wringing.
If these cuts mean this company makes a loss how is the shortfall to be made up? The Bahamian Taxpayers. GB power had to rebuild after Dorian and be able to pay it off. They could not run a consistent loss as BPL has done for years. There has been no financial input in making this decision. I have seen no reports on the financial state of the company if these new rates are charged, just that the new rates will be charged . If it is a loss then it doesn't make sense , unless the decison is a political one.
