So they should also ban alcohol, fast foods, most Bahamian dishes and a host of other stuff because they all lead to the issues you are talking about.

But i would place good money that vacation rentals provide more economic benefit then cruise ships, so by your logic it is the cruise ships we should get rid of.

I am trying to remember which investment this was. Can you let me know?

LOL if the best that you can say about the budget is what is written here then it was a terrible budget.

Waste of money. All they needed to do was send an alert to BTC and Aliv to put on all cell phones. But no that way they wouldn't be able to help their friends out.

Every year the Government projects a time in the future when we will have close to a budget surplus. Then something happens and it doesn't occur. These idiots have no idea what to do to make the changes necessary to set the country up for economic growth. All they can think of is saying words they know they won't be around to deal with when they don't come true, and also set up a committee so they can get some more coffee and doughnuts on the back of taxpayers. And the ideas that the committee recommends would not be looked at or considered as they have no plan to do anything to change the trajectory we are on.

Dawes says...

I am sure that these landlords have nothing to worry about. Our Government has always brought in more draconian laws to try and enforce laws that they are unable to do. All that will happen is in another 5-1o years they will have a real property amnesty. I suggest no one pays RP as you receive no benefit from paying on time, only those who don't pay will have a reduction put to the amount they owe.

Dawes says...

Ha ha don't worry plenty new taxes coming after the election, and then a huge give away again before the one after. At some point it will end, but then they can blame the IMF for the drastic reductions in Civil service and the sale or closure of most state owned entities. Also the previous Governments who got them into it, but under no circumstances will they be the ones to blame.

Dawes says...

I am trivializing it because any nation that can not run a power company for profit, when the customer pays some of the highest fees, and new developments must buy the transformers that BPL uses, is a joke and obviously unable to run anything with sense, and as such i don't hold much hope for us to do what is necessary to get out of the mess we are in.

Dawes says...

This is obvious, but this has been said for at least 20 years and still whoever is in power is unable to manage to even get remotely close to this. But don't worry, i am sure they will be thinking of some new taxes to help deal with any shortfalls.
