How long should we shut down for though? And should we shut down each time a new case is discovered. Seeing as they don't expect a cure for 12-18 months should we now shut down for that long?
This is pure dumbness. To give 2 hours notice to people to stock up is silly. Yet again they are governing by the seat of their pants. Yes it was a shame two more died from this, but that does not mean this is going to help. If they honestly believed that then they should do a 3 week shut down of everything (media included, why they need to be on the road i don't know as they don't understand journalism). 2 days will do nothing. But if you do that 3 week shutdown then Government better get the social services working a lot better as there will be a lot of people who will not be able to buy 3 weeks worth of food so Govt will need to sort that out first. Thats something they will not do of course so we will continue as is for a couple more months.
It doesn't help that this was also the month where BPL did an upgrade on everyones online accounts and you had to reset your password to pay. It took me a long time of calling to get mine reset, to the point i was going to leave it as i know they are not allowed to disconnect. They need to get the basics straight and there rest will be easier to deal with.
We can have the best shutdown in the world and that still won't matter in ten days. Our economy is tied to tourists. If their country has the virus we will always get it again.Or is the Chamber saying we should close everything until the virus is gone in the US, in which case dont worry about reopening
It would also be in the best interest of Bahamains if the AG stopped losing so many court cases. I'd imagine the only way for this to happen would be for this AG to step down as there has been loss after loss on his watch. So we all know that won't happen as there will need to be some negotiation for when Carnival, Norwegian and all the other cruise lines want their own personal beaches in Nassau.
Of course they will give them the land over a Bahamian. Minnis is like all the other governments we have had. Talk the right talk about doing stuff for Bahamians and being tough on foreigners and then doing what ever the foreigner wants as soon as they ask.
Then ban Alcohol, fast food, sodas, smoking cigarettes, being fat and many other things as these all cause issues. But no the mighty weed is the one to worry about.
