Maybe the supermarkets should show what the price would be if there was no price control so the public could see. They keep telling us that without price control other items would go down in price, so lets see how low those would go and also how high the price controlled ones would go. Then we would know whether price control is good or not.

But if all business owners did this, then who would use the business?

This is all he says. General Strike coming and this is the worst he has seen it in X number of years. Either have it or don't, who cares. personally some part of me would like to see it happen if only for us to finally deal with all the issues that keep getting pushed down the road.

I think we can all agree that the minimum wage is too low, however has this been costed out. What will the impact be on Government finances. We will already be running a deficit without these increases, so the increase will be added on top of that. meaning more will have to be borrowed. It seems that for a party that talks about fiscal prudence, they very quickly change their tone when the publicity is bad. Oh and they can hope the private sector will follow suit all they want. The private sector will first work out what the effect will be before they go ahead and do this.

If the domes go up faster then many tents why has it taken so long to put up? I can put a tent up in a couple of minutes and i was never a boy scout. Me thinks the guy is stretching the ease of these domes a bit

Wow I thought people said the acting financial secretary was meant to be good at PR, even though he is not good at economics. He has just blamed everything on the private sector. He even went so far as to say the system was "working as intended", which is a complete lie as there wouldn't be problems if that was the case. Then he says it's due to the private sector not spending thousands and thousands on upgrading their systems as to why there are these issues.Yet again he shows how out of touch Government is with the reality facing most people and companies here.

And watch they will get their automatice promotions along with all the other things, as Goverement will always bow before the union as its only the taxpayers money. As hrysippus says you shouldn't be relying on NIB to give you a pension, its going to be long broke before then

What Maynard is also not saying is as soon as this bond is passed his union will demand a pay rise as now BPL has plenty money. And as it will be close to election our worthless politicians will give it to them, so we will be back to square 1 in a couple years.

I agree it is a disgrace. i know of a person who has a work permit who is here legally and yet was pulled out of where they were staying and taking to the detention center. This was even after showing their work permit. When the immigration officer was asked why the person was pulled even though they proved they were here legally they said the card could be a fake as they had had some. Umm if thats the case then crack down on those giving out these supposed fake cards, but of course that would mean going after Bahamians who are aiding and abetting this, and we never do that.
