For most airports they should enter into deals with the private sector to build the building to a set standard and that way the person will get the restaurant and bar at the building for 20 years rent free. Most airports don't need excessively large buildings outside of Nassau, Freeport and Marsh harbour. So a building with the restaurant and bar, check in desk, sitting area, bathrooms and security clearance should be enough.

Some one may want to explain to Dr. Pinder that for 50 years this country has been ruled by "black" men as such it is "black" men who have been putting young and old black men in jail. Otherwise of course it should be legalised, all of it, for recreation and for medical use.

Surely the workers are sharing in the double digit growth. Every time i go to one of these hotels everything you buy has 15% on top in gratuity. So being given a beer at $10 will net the employer $1.20 just for cracking that drink open.If the number of tourists is increasing then the gratuity also increases. One of the reasons i don't go to the hotels that often.

Dawes says...

I agree with you on those. Of course the Government has been slammed for being so heartless in the last year or two for reducing the civil servants so they can't win either way. But if they don't do what you are saying then the only thing that will happen is tax rises.

Dawes says...

Of course not sure people are sure what they want. Do they want lower BEC bills or lower Taxes. If lower BEC then taxes will have to go up for the Government to fund the offset, or we could wait until BEC is officially broke and then have no power. Yes i know someone will say fix BEC then you can have lower bills and no change in taxes. But that won't happen overnight and will take a number of years to fix due to all the legacy issues.

I think the other issues are that for a company over $10 million to have to be audited (it wasn't before, you only needed the revenue signed off) will cost a lot more then before. No doubt some of these are privately owned so they may have never had an audit. This then leads to whether there are enough auditors in the country to perform the audits. If not government will need to rapidly agree to short term work permits as they do in Cayman and Bermuda during busy season. However this will increase the cost as well. Finally, if business license is on revenue why does the Government need to see all the other figures in the income statement (for those under $10 million) and on balance sheet etc for those over. The only logical explanation is they are trying to work out a more fruitful tax (corporation or income)

Dawes says...

Why would an office want to be downtown. Bay street is closed all the time for funerals and then you have the traffic all the time, you end up wasting an hour of your day by having your office there. Then when there are big time court cases they will close whole streets with no care in the world for he people who need to get to work to be able to pay the taxes to keep the civil service in employment.

Dawes says...

So it's impossible to make the civil servants contribute but easy to just increase taxes on all to cover this. Great we continue to be led by idiots, Hopefully the bottom is coming soon so we can then fix it correctly (when we have to go to IMF they will dictate what happens and one will be for civil servants to contribute).
