Correct. Average flight to Cat island is around $300. Put in Per diem and accommodation and make it $600. Thats 4,167 round trips and not including Maintenace, gas and pilot salaries. Also if this was to be the case they would need a fleet of aircraft and MOW may need to go to Cat Island but Police to Abaco. Plane can't do both at the same time.
How do you know he is correct? has he laid out the budget to show you that this is correct. Or is it just that fact he says it means he must be correct to you. Finally have a guess who can change where Bahamasair flies right now?
Maybe non-profits like the schools? Or its just another statistic that is released that doesn't make sense when it is properly looked at. I always had heard the public sector makes up around 40% of our country so that 19% is too low i think
Not if you tax them double to enter our waters and not come to our ports. They can go around if they want, but they wont be able to visit their islands unless they pay double
Yawn. Do you not get bored. We all agreed the last administration wasn't good, which is why they were voted out. Now the same is happening here. We can't change what was done. but things that haven't been done can be changed. You for years have gone on about the sale of BTC and how bad it was (we got $210 million for that), and yet now you will sing about how great the sale of BPL is, even though we are getting nothing. You are what is wrong with the country, you only care about your party and not the nation.
So now its a confiscated plane, but no one in the house knew about it. They are making this up as they go along. Using what sounds good at the time in the hope it shuts the public up. They don't care if the excuse they use today is completely different from the one they used last week, as all they care about is killing the story. And the fact is it normally succeeds. They know all they have to do is have a party and get the PM to do a dance and then we don't care. So this on us. Alos can the news maybe one day do some investigation into these stories instead of just writing what the spokesperson said (like what make of plane, when confiscated, what would we get if we sold it at auction?, how will it benefit us if we have it ?).
The fact is this is a done deal, Certain people have paid to have it this way. The fact that it makes no sense to open a clinic (which it what it is) when we need to get our hospital straight is neither here nor there. Certain people need to be paid. Anyway its not like anyone making this decision will use it, they will all fly to the US at our expense if they need care.
All talk to please the masses but nothing will be done. I'm fairly sure one of a political parties sponsors has consistently owed NIB funds and no doubt does to. Nothing has happened to him and nothing will. Also most people don't mind paying a fair amount, its when you suddenly jump fees by 1000% and the level of service has not changed one bit (like boat fees, and yet there are still no proper markers or laws being enforced in the harbor).
Yawn, give it a rest Davies. We all know this is a money grab for certain people. You keep mentioning the $1 billion needed and yet the party being brought in is only funding $130 million. And over time they will fund more using revenue generated. This could be BPL doing this. I have always wanted BPL to be private but stop misinforming people that this is a necessity and then making sure it is only certain people getting it and not fully open to all.
