Quite easy to find. seems to be a long lists of disputes that the WTO has dealt with. All the countries you mentioned are there as well as many others.
No point in saying anything about this, as nothing will change. Its all part of our lackadaisical mindset. Sure people are going to be inconvenienced trying to go about their daily business but that doesn't matter.
The US was the last major country to do this? What about China, or Japan? and on the racial Segregation have you forgot South Africa or many other countries as well?
We are run by idiots. How can you not know how much is owed. This should be available at the click of a button. If you want to get people to pay then say on September 1st those who have not come in will have their name and amounts owed put in the newspaper for all to see. A number will come in as they would not want that. Then on September 1st do it, as in print instead of the normal Government plan of lets make a threat and not go through with it. Of course i am sure this won't happen as at a guess the list of those owing has a large number of people who surprisingly have the same names as past and present MP's
This is an issue on pretty much every island in The Bahamas. As ever it comes down to cost. How much would it cost the Government to provide all that is being asked, and how much tax does this area provide? I understand that there are areas that must be subsidised by Nassau (well whoever we get the loans from really), but there is a point where the cost becomes too much. Somehow the people and the Government are going to have to work out how best to do what is needed without huge costs to Government.
I take it that all those who want the ticket prices to be under cost to the airline have no problems continuing to pay increases in taxes. Bahamasair has us the taxpayer over $500 million since it started. But hey we got cheaper flights so thats ok.
AS a note the UBP were formed after the PLP in 1953, as such Sir Roland was not elected to Parliament in 1925 as a member of the UBP as there was no such thing.
