You were lucky. I was there most of the day last time and just as it was getting near to my number being called it reach 2.45pm and most of the staff left for school pick up and the place basically shut down for an hour. Yes i understand kids need to be picked up, but schedule it correctly. Also i have heard from friends who have citizenship from other nations that when they are getting a renewal they just have to send their passport off and it comes back in the post. Except for using the post over here (which would take years) why can't we do something similar. It's not hard to do right but at a guess it is all set up for the first reason you give, and that is pay offs, because if thats not the case, then we have some seriously intelligence challenged people setting these things up.
All sounds great, until you realise that each of the last 2-4 Governments have promised the same, then spent money on "investigating" the issues (which are already known) and then been voted out before they do anything. Whilst i hope to be proven wrong chances are nothing will come of this.
How many crown land cays are left? As i assume they will not be stopping the sale of private islands which i guess would be a large part of our cays. The above sounds good on paper, but it won't be long until someone comes along with a deal that can't be refused and we will be told the sale is a one off. Or they will lease it for 99 years at a peppercorn a year.
I don't disagree that his past would make the police suspicious of him. What i meant was his past should not be the justification of his shooting. The police have to act in a lawful way. If that was the case with this shooting then so be it.
It does not matter what this man has done previously. What matters is whether the police acted in accordance with the law. The only way for this to occur is for the coroners court to actual do its job. Yes crime is bad over here, but we can't allow our police force to act outside of the laws of the land as this just adds to crime. The family deserve to know what happened, why and if it was lawful. Until the court rules we can only speculate.
Ha, if it was so easy this would have been done a long time ago. Why don't you try this, i would put money on that nominee account of yours, not even being opened. Then what would you do.
Government has a choice, to either do what is needed to get off the blacklist or not. No one is saying we must, all the EU is saying is if you don't we will actively encourage our people not to do business with you. Cry all you want about that being unfair, and how XYZ country in the EU can do it, but that won't change the blacklisting. This will just be another nail in the offshore financial services industry which was already having the coffin door closed, with more middle class and high class jobs being lost.
Time for politicians on both sides to be honest with the public. All these promises before elections are not possible. All this great talk about how amazing things will soon be are all lies. The country is close to being broke and our leaders (from both parties and civil service ) do not have the testicular fortitude to do what is needed. They need to tell the Bahamian people that we are facing years of pain in order to get out of the quagmire we find ourselves in. And yes i said years, as there is nothing that can be done that will make it better in the space of months. They need to tell the public that Government can not be the solution to the lack of jobs, as the only way for Government to do that would be for the government to raise taxes a lot to pay for all of this. And finally they need to lock up each person found stealing or being corrupt who works for Government without exception and regardless of who they may be. By doing all this, we may have a chance in 5 - 10 years of making this country as good as it should be.
If there was nothing wrong with it, Why did Roberts not say they were doing it when it happened? It's only now he has been caught out that he wants to throw his dummy out.
