Look on google maps at most islands in the northern and central Bahamas. Over and over again you will see huge chunks of land with canals cut out and nothing there. Or large areas for Golf courses. All to no doubt be gated off or put out of the price of most Bahamians. This model of mass marinas does not work in the numbers we have. As to being careful about taking privately owned land for public purposes, the article stated that the groups were offering to purchase it, though if this is the value the owner wanted i do not know.
As i have said this is fine. All the EU is saying is their people will find it harder to use banks in Bahamas if we choose not to implement what they deem is needed to stop tax evasion and money laundering. Nobody says we have to implement it, but if we don't there are consequences it is up to us which we would rather.
Why do we always do things at the last minute. We have been told for a while that this would happen should we not do XYZ, we haven't done XYZ and now we will be blacklisted. And yes for all who don't like the EU telling us what to do, we don't have to do this. But if we don't then the EU will do what it can to make sure their citizen decide they would rather put their money in other offshore countries and not Bahamas.
And this is why nothing will ever change over here until the collapse comes. Those at the top (yes of both parties, however one more so then the other it seems) see nothing wrong with spending money that isn't theirs and then get all defensive when questioned. I note that he says all the board members of all state owned enterprises, and not at all enterprises. As the private sector would not tolerate this, but as it is only the Bahamian tax payer that has to pay the difference, well they just need to bend over a bit more.
As you seem to have no problem with every PM, Minister or MP helping their supporters, please never complain when taxes are increased to pay for this Note i said supporters as its not Bahamians helping Bahamians, its PLPs helping PLPs or FNMs helping FNMs, these are people who don't care about Bahamians or Bahamas, but only themselves
Are there no Government people in Abaco who couldn't walk around with a couple hundred $ phone and video these sites. Then send the video to these people? Or is the way of spending no doubt a couple thousand dollars the best way forward. Even though we all know nothing will change.
Nothing wrong here. It is a right for those in power to make money for themselves and their boys. If there was anything wrong we would be in uproar about it, like the uproar we have when there is talk of gays, or citizenship. Now those two things will be able to destroy us, whilst the above is fine, they just need to increase our taxes so we give them more to give to themselves and their boys.
And if he is derelict in his duty then i expect him to face repercussions. I am not a party person but a Bahamian and i am sick and tired of the so called leaders of this country making as much money for themselves whilst watching their fellow Bahamians struggle.

Outside of the aragonite what natural resources do we have over here. And how much would we get if we had control of the aragonite?
