Unless the hotels can be cheaper and the flights cheaper this will not happen. I have friends in the US who tell me they would love to visit but they can take a family of four to the DR for cheaper then the flights alone. The other week i stayed in Orlando and the hotel room was just as nice as the old parts of Atlantis for $150 a night, this would have been $400 over here.

Yes it is too expensive to operate a business over here. However how does VAT play into this? If you develop the software here and sell overseas it is VAT exempt as it is leaving the country. If you sell it to a company here, assuming their revenue is over $100,000 they can claim the VAT amount back and offset it against their VAT outputs. Yes it has increased the workload but not dramatically. Though it would be better if Government gets any VAT refunds back to the companies in a quicker manner, as i hear it takes months to get that back (if your inputs are more then your outputs.

We can not allow the police to become the judge, jury and executioner. We all know of times the police have done stuff outside of the law. Yes this may be a case where they were justified in their actions, however there should always be a complete investigation of what happened. Based on what the police say it appears justified, however as always there are 3 sides to a story (and in this one now only 2). Hopefully there will be a full investigation when a decision can be made if this was lawful rather then just hushed up and brushed under the carpet. Over the last few years there have been a large number of police shootings, and i have not heard any results of the investigation.

That goes along with other things this Government must sort out: Education, Price of electricity, the landfill, Crime, The roads, and many others. To me the most important is education as in time that will help all. The easiest is probably the roads. The one to have the largest economic impact quickest is electricity. This bill can not be the only thing they do to try and sort this country out.

The middle class has been shrinking for the last 10-15 years. You believe that somehow we are going to be able to have a workforce trained in an industry that we don't have over here, and then take that industry to the world to have the world want to spend money with our industry, all the while we only allow Bahamians to do it. I disagree.
Can you also resend where you showed me you weren't waiting, as i only saw where you said you were working on something for the last few years.

It is up to the Government to ensure the rules are followed. Once that is the case they could do whatever they like. As i have noted before i have no problem with them coming as they are not in an industry which is booming over here (or even exists) so any money we can make out of it and get jobs is OK by me.

Not sure how this shows that the bill will not help. Currently the situation we have didn't help you.

Yup and in those days you had to take the mailboat to get to Nassau and line up at the phone to make a call. The world changes and so have we.
You say no return to the plantation time, please name me one successful country that is in a plantation state, as all the successful country have opened up their economies (USA with Toyota etc, Europe with Ford, Toyota etc).

Because every time a Government tries to get something going everyone comes out and says this is not the way to do it, or hold on we must consult (been doing that successfully for years now). Things have to change and if we want to be able to compete with the rest of the world then we need to do it at a much faster pace then what we do now and open ourselves up. If we don't want to then fine lets say so and then we can sit and hope that every 10 years a new Bahamar or Atlantis opens to take up the slack in our employment. But if you want what you have said we should have then we will have to open up more and not be so scared of those foreigners.

Comrade how is the current economic situation working for Bahamians. Has it been a success? Is unemployment at 5% or less. Do people feel safe? Is access to healthcare easy?
